Skyrim will turn 10 years old on November 11 and is celebrating with the release of Skyrim: Anniversary Edition, which includes a new fishing feature, access to the Bethesda Creation Club, and improved visuals. Of course, the idea of fishing in Skyrim caught many eyes, as it adds one more lifelike feature to the game.

As the Dragonborn, Skyrim players have incredible power, can defeat dragons, and rise to the top of several in-game factions. At the same time, it adds to the game’s longevity when there are features like marriage, housebuilding, raising children, and more. It’s a bit odd, though, when one Skyrim player’s wedding is crashed by "Torture Victim."

As seen below, one Skyrim player/Redditor known as porb is in the Temple of Mara to get married. One of the attendees, however, is simply an NPC labeled Torture Victim. Usually, NPCs around Riften are the ones to attend weddings in Skyrim, but this NPC traveled far and wide just to be there for the Dragonborn.

Torture Victims are four designated characters typically found in the Dawnstar Sanctuary, which is quite far from Riften. To obtain these victims, Skyrim players must complete the Dark Brotherhood storyline to unlock the quest “Where You Hang Your Enemy’s Head.” This quest takes players to Delvin Mallory in Riften to upgrade the Dawnstar Sanctuary, where they’ll purchase a Torture Chamber complete with two male and two female Nords as "Torture Victims," including the one attending porb’s wedding.

Presumably, the Torture Victim’s appearance at this wedding has something to do with this Dawnstar Sanctuary being recently upgraded, or perhaps it is an even bigger bug, with the Torture Victim effectively traveling from Dawnstar to Riften for the wedding. Either way, it’s unique bugs and moments like this that make Skyrim the beautiful, sometimes buggy mess that it is. Of course, Reddit had a field day with this. Some shared other wedding crashers in Skyrim, like a Dragon Corpse. Many joked about the NPC actually being named Torture Victim, and some suggested that attending a wedding itself is a form of torture.

Luckily, moments like these are going nowhere. Skyrim is one of few games to actually maintain relevancy for ten years, and with the upcoming Anniversary Edition and the fact that The Elder Scrolls 6 is far away, it stands to reason it will continue to do so for many years to come.

Skyrim: Anniversary Edition releases for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X on November 11.
