In this modern era of gaming, virtual reality is becoming more and more popular. Although it still has a niche air about it, there are plenty of open world games that support VR, such as Subnautica, No Man's Sky, and Microsoft Flight Simulator. It gives the player a much more immersive experience, and the likes of The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is perfect for the VR treatment. Though the technology is still being tinkered with, there are ways to make playing the fantasy title more interesting.
Take Reddit user flamonster92, as an example. Recently, they uploaded a clip of them playing Skyrim in VR, in which they approached a number of animals before lowering themselves in order to pet them.
While it doesn't say in the comments, it's likely that this is due to a mod, most likely the PLANCK add-on created by user FlyingParticle. This mod allows players in Skyrim VR to interact with the environment more realistically. In this case, it gives the ability to pet animals, which is likely something that anyone who plays a game that features wildlife has been wanting to do. One user also discovered that it's possible to grab people by the collar and give them a bit of a slap, which is just hilarious.
There are many excellent Skyrim mods out there, and more being made all the time, but this one will almost certainly entertain those who play the game in virtual reality. It needs to be reiterated that the user does not say whether the video they posted is possible because of this mod, but it is almost certainly likely, given that petting animals is not something that can be done in the vanilla VR version of the game.
With recent news that Among Us will be getting a VR version, it's clearly something that is the future of gaming. It's a piece of technology that's been bandied around for many years, but it's only relatively recently that it's found a home in the gaming sphere. The opportunity to pet in-game dogs and other animals is only likely to make more people want to try out virtual reality as well.
