Skyrim was released in November of 2011, and even after 10 years, players continue to make new discoveries regarding the world of Tamriel. While the open world might be a decade old, it contains many exotic places filled with unusual creatures. In addition to these strange beasts in Skyrim, the wilderness is filled with less odd animals, such as bees.

As one of the many types of insects found in the game, bees inhabit many different locations in Skyrim. Unsurprisingly, these small, flying creatures are often near beehives. Some notable places where these insects are prevalent include Honeystrand Cave, Helgen Cliffs, Riften, and Goldenglow Estates. In addition to finding bees swarming in different parts of the wilderness, they can be used in various potions. Recently, one player had a strange meeting with one of these insects.

In a post on Reddit, a user known as MaxNiEf shared a video captured while playing Skyrim. The clip highlighted an unusual encounter the player had with a bee. While these flying insects are often seen hovering near beehives in several regions of the world, this particular encounter was peculiar. In the clip recorded by MaxNiEf, they managed to witness a bee somehow carrying a bucket much larger than itself. As the player watched the weird phenomenon, they could see the bucket moving in correlation to the flight path of the insect. The strange occurrence lasted for roughly 25 seconds before the bee dropped the bucket and flew away.

This unusual video captured by MaxNiEf caught the attention of many members of the Skyrim community on Reddit. With over 1,300 upvotes in less than a day, many were surprised to see the diminutive creature carrying a bucket. One gamer joked that the bee could “collect a lot of pollen with that!” In addition to commenting on this strange encounter, another player noted that other insects had caused issues. According to Reddit user Halliwel96, they took flight while riding a horse after a butterfly went underneath them.

In addition to this unusual glitch, gamers in the comments pointed out that a bee was previously the source of another game-breaking bug. During the production of Skyrim, the developers discovered an issue with the carriage ride at the start of the game. They found out that a problem with collision detection pertaining to a bee was causing it to not run as intended. According to the developers, when the insect collided with the carriage, it would cause it to shoot into the air.

It’s exciting to see players continue to stumble across unique discoveries while exploring Tamriel, such as this bee carrying a bucket. It seems likely that even more unusual encounters are bound to happen to gamers in the open world of Skyrim in the future.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is available on PC, PS3, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
