Skyrim is a game with a recognizable aesthetic and an impressive world. The community around the game has spent the last decade recreating famous moments, making detailed cosplays, and bringing iconic weapons and items to life. In one of the latest of these tributes to Skyrim, one fan masterfully remade the unique heavy shield Targe of the Blooded.
Skyrim has an expansive open world and offers players a wide variety of weapons, shields, and spells to collect and utilize. As with other titles produced by Bethesda, Skyrim has been used as the launch pad for dozens and dozens of recreations, mods, and cosplays to this point.
U/_mayor_mc_cheese_ brings to the Skyrim subreddit an astounding recreation of the shield known as Targe of the Blooded. A unique heavy shield in Skyrim, Targe of the Blooded can be found on Umana in the Dwemer Ruin of Alftand. The real life edition looks just like the shield that can be found in-game with five dark wooden planks with a center circle filled with spikes. These spikes, the most recognizable attribute of the shield, appear as impressive and intimidating as they do in-game though are likely not the same material as they were in Skyrim. Even more impressive is that this is just one in a series of Skyrim shields that this Reddit user has decided to bring to life.
U/_mayor_mc_cheese_ has taken to building a bunch of the more recognizable and iconic shields from Skyrim. This model in particular was made with a red mahogany stained wood, according to the builder, and must have required quite the amount of time to perfect. With a handle on the back, it is a perfectly functional shield and a great recreation.
Recreations such as this are always impressive and this shield is no exception. Skyrim continues to inspire its players and fans to this day and their tributes are often brilliant. The quality of the build and the loving reaction shown on the post is a testament to the work done by the shield's creator. For those interested, purchasing this or similar items seems like a possibility in the near future.
At the time of this writing, fans of this creation won't find any similar creation for sale from Bethesda. Leaving the only option open for those looking for something similar reliant on independent creators like this. Though that approach has led to wonderful creations, it does leave less options for a community still passionate about the decade-old game. With the tenth anniversary of Skyrim coming along, perhaps the developer will take inspiration from creations such as this.
