One creative gamer turned to Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for inspiration when coming up with their latest creation in Halo Infinite’s Forge map editor, creating a stunning replica of the city of Solitude. 343 Industries announced earlier this year that Halo Infinite’s Forge feature reached a major milestone in early 2023, with players having produced over one million creations with the powerful editor.

Serving as both the capital city and the largest settlement in the acclaimed action RPG’s namesake province, Solitude is one of the most iconic locations in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Apart from its massive size, one of the things that made Skyrim’s Solitude one of the game’s most unique and recognizable cities is its unique geography. Built atop a stone archway stretching over the Karth River, Solitude stands out even in a game rife with memorable fantasy locales. Over the years, gamers have paid tribute to the eye-catching city with everything from detailed Minecraft recreations to a stunning painting of Skyrim’s Solitude.

In a new post shared on the r/skyrim subreddit, Redditor mojoswoptops2020 showed off a stunning screenshot of their impressive recreation of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’s Solitude built using the versatile Forge map editor in Halo Infinite. Taken from the riverside approach to the city, a view that will be familiar to many Skyrim players, the screenshot shows the sun lighting Solitude from behind and giving the entire scene an almost dreamlike appearance. Completing the picture and paying homage to Skyrim’s ever-present aerial antagonists, a dragon can be seen in profile flying high above the forests near the edge of the frame.

What makes the recreation of Solitude in Halo Infinite all the more impressive is the relatively short amount of time that it took to put it together. The post states that the entire scene took mojoswoptops2020 around two to three hours to build, and they include a link to a timelapse video of the build from start to finish for those interested in the process used to bring Solitude to life. Fans of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim responding to the unique homage to the game’s capital city were impressed with mojoswoptops2020’s work, with one Redditor simply responding, “It’s perfect.” Another response complimented the creation, but asked jokingly why there was “a Reaper from Mass Effect in the top right.”

While most gamers using Halo Infinite’s map editor are likely focused on ensuring that their level is an ideal setting for fast-paced, futuristic gunplay, mojoswoptops2020’s stunning Skyrim tribute shows that Forge is equally adept at producing fantasy locales. Given Solitude’s status as the seat of power for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’s Imperial Legion, though, fans of rebel Ulfric Stormcloak may want to give this map a pass.

Halo Infinite is available now on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
