Bethesda is currently hard at work preparing to launch The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Anniversary Edition, a new release of the open-world action RPG in celebration of its 10th anniversary. Skyrim Anniversary Edition will bundle content from the game both new and old, with the promise a completely new Fishing system just for this release. In its latest trailer for the Skyrim Anniversary Edition, Bethesda teased that there may be more to Fishing than meets the eye.

Halfway through the new Skyrim Anniversary Edition trailer is its section on the game's new Fishing system. It's during this section that Bethesda confirms that not only with the Skyrim Anniversary Edition have a Fishing mechanic, but also new quests associated with it. It's in announcing these quests that Bethesda teases something exciting. There's a brief sequence hinting at the addition of a sea monster or something similar.

As Bethesda mentions Fishing-related quests, a location is shown with a woman named Viraya. There's a fish displayed on the wall and cuts of fish for food, as well. The clip shows the building shaking as if something enormous has passed beside it, or below it. Viraya says, "What was that?" before the video continues on. It's just a tease, but the implication is clear. Fishing in Skyrim Anniversary Edition could have some very large fish to catch.

The trailer also hints at another interesting Fishing-related detail, as there appears to be some sort of Fishing Guild in the game. The building shown is built over open water and has its center cut out so the water is accessible. Fish hang from the railings and rafters in this building, showing that it's clearly tied to the Fishing content added in Skyrim Anniversary Edition. Perhaps players will start the Fishing questline here, or perhaps there's more to it than meets the eye.

Otherwise, Bethesda uses the trailer to break down some of the expected content included with the Fishing update. 20 different types of fish will be available for Skyrim players to find and fish in the game. All of these fish can be cooked, displayed as trophies, or kept as pets in Skyrim's new aquarium system.

Before current Skyrim players panic over having to purchase the new Skyrim Anniversary Edition to get the game's extra Fishing content, Bethesda has positive news. The update will also be available for free to all owners of the Skyrim Special Edition, too. Expect all of it to launch this November.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Anniversary Edition releases November 11 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
