Skyrim was a genre-defining game, and the effects of its monumental success can still be felt today in the video game world. Despite releasing almost ten years ago, many are still enjoying its vast open world. For those thinking that every single Easter egg and reference has already been found, think again. Recently, Redditor theaquila_01 made a new discovery, but this one is technically not found in Skyrim proper. Instead, players that want to find this Easter egg will need to look to the skies of Sovngarde itself, the afterlife of the Nords that call Skyrim their home.

As this Easter egg is only found in Sovngarde, there are some spoilers involved for the ending of Skyrim. Most players have already made it this far by now or aren't planning on actually getting through the main story, though. Regardless, players that want to avoid any more spoilers for the game's ending should turn back now.

One of the first things that players will notice when they arrive in Sovngarde at the end of Skyrim is the striking, colorful sky. Somewhat mimicking the aurora borealis, it is as if the northern lights were truly endless. While players have probably spent a long time staring into the sky here, they may have missed this interesting Easter egg hidden within the nebulas of stars. If players look closely, they can actually see the Mage, Thief, and Warrior constellations in the sky.

At the beginning of the game, players come across three standing stones, the Mage, Thief, and Warrior. Attuning to one of these three stones gives skills associated with those classes a boost to experience, but they aren't seen much after this point. These constellations have been important parts of the franchise for a long time, so it's cool to see them referenced here in the most important area of Skyrim. The Warrior constellation is the easiest to see, but some players report having trouble finding the Mage and Thief even with these picture guides above.

With every new discovery in Skyrim, fans are left wondering what else they've missed. Players have combed over everything there is in the game from top to bottom and yet players are still finding new and unexplored things. This kind of detail is what Bethesda has become known for, and players can only hope that The Elder Scrolls 6 lives up to its predecessor's example when it finally releases.

Skyrim is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
