In what could be described as an act of revenge, a Skyrim player has managed to make one of the game's giants go flying through the air after being shot with an arrow. While Bethesda releases are generally known for their bugs, The Elder Scrolls 5 is particularly noteworthy for its glitches, perhaps owing to the fact that the game is still in the mainstream limelight, even after almost 11 years. What this particular fan witnessed is just one more example of how buggy things can get.

Issues aside, partly what's helped keep the 2011 epic RPG in the public sphere after all this time is its roster of in-jokes. There are many Skyrim memes that fans can relate to, such as the almost iconic "arrow to the knee" phrase. The broken aspects of the game are just as much a part of the experience as the dragons or the tenacity of the courier who always seeks out the player no matter what. The giants are another meme-worthy asset in TES5, particularly their ability to send the Dragonborn flying through the air from a single hit.

However, Reddit user KeyAvocado7 has shown that it's possible, thanks to a glitch, to turn the tides and actually make one of the giants from Skyrim go hurtling towards the heavens. A clip shows the player firing an arrow at the pursuing enemy, which then rapidly sends the lanky enemy skywards. Upon landing, KeyAvocado7 knocks another arrow just to be sure, but it's clear that the impact has ended the antagonist's life. While it's obviously a bug that's caused this incident, it's still pretty entertaining, and many players may feel a bit of joy at seeing these giant creatures get a taste of their own medicine.

It's not just the player that has suffered at the hands of these statuesque foes, either. There have been examples of Skyrim's giants sending quest NPCs flying with just one swing of their weapon. This glitch has existed in the game since day one and has become so infamous that the fan base often refers to it as the "Skyrim Space Program."

With the Anniversary Edition of Skyrim now out on Switch, it seems Bethesda is wont to continue in its pursuit of releasing the decade-old game in various formats and to as many systems as humanly possible. There will always be bugs that exist in this slice of Tamriel, and while there are plenty that are irritating, there are just as many that are amusing more than anything.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Anniversary Edition is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
