Since the release of The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim in 2011, Bethesda's massive open-world RPG has seen phenomenal success and captured the hearts of gamers all over the world. The sprawling mountains of Skyrim are packed with unique cities and memorable characters that have inspired countless fan creations.

When Skyrim released in 2011, the game was praised by both critics and fans alike for not only the sheer size of its map but also for the amount of care and detail put into the many environments throughout the rocky northern reaches of Tamriel. Skyrim's passionate fanbase has poured countless hours into it over the decade since the game's release and exploring every nook and cranny of the massive world. Recently, one fan gave their own interpretation of capturing some of the region's most iconic locations.

Reddit user Zacoon_art showed off their impressive recreation of four iconic locations from the frozen north of Skyrim in the form of redrawn maps. Iconic locations from the game's story like Riverwood and Falkreath are given redrawn appearances that look much more like a map the legendary Dragonborn might use while traveling the region. The maps are vibrant and the colors pop while also serving as accurate representations of the medieval villages.

Fans within the post's comments were quick to praise the style of the artist's creation with many wishing that Skyrim's in-game maps looked similar to the ones within the post. The maps capture a notably more medieval aesthetic than the 3D renderings used within Skyrim's many releases. Others compared the hand-drawn aesthetic of the maps to those used in other games such as Kingdom Come: Deliverance and Dungeons and Dragons. Zacoon_art's post also linked to the user's DeviantArt page which contains even more hand-drawn maps of various Skyrim locations.

The characters and locations of Skyrim have led some of the game's most talented players to create a wide array of amazing fan creations. Artistic fans have created breathtaking works  of the game's characters like these beautiful pieces of Skyrim crossover art while others have created stunning cosplays of their favorite characters. Some fans have even attempted to re-create iconic pieces of equipment in the real world, from fashioning shields based on the game to crafting the popular Daedric WarhammerSkyrim truly captured a generation of gamers and will surely entertain and inspire its fans for many years to come.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is available now on PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Switch, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
