It may be a hundred times better than the one in Oblivion, but the character creator in Skyrim is a bit outdated, especially when compared to standards of today like the character creation in Demon's Souls. To be fair, The Elder Scrolls 5 is almost ten years old, but that age definitely shows in this department. Despite all of this, some players are determined to make the most out of this character creator, and players like Redditor Ivanttoridemybicycle have been able to work miracles with it. This most recent piece of art sees the Wood Elf from the game's loading screens come to life.

It should be said that certain aspects of this creation cannot be achieved without mods, specifically the armor. Even so, the detail with which Ivanttoridemybicycle was able to recreate this often forgotten character is impressive. Skyrim fans are impressed by the creation, applauding the Redditor for their talent at making the character creator work for them.

Ivanttoridemybicycle has a storied history of recreating Skyrim's loading screen scenes in game. This is the latest in that long line of characters, but they have also done things like the Argonian bartender, the Orc barbarian, and more. This Wood Elf archer is a reference to the loading screen image that shows when the game is telling the player about light armor or the Wood Elf character race. The loading screen features the character against a black background, so Ivanttoridemybicycle had to come up with their own place to do the photoshoot.

In the comments of the post, this talented player makes it clear that it can't be 100% accurate without a mod to change Skyrim's armor. The Wood Elf in the loading screen is seen wearing leather armor without pauldrons, but there are no variants of leather armor in the game like this. Because of this, Ivanttoridemybicycle resorted to using a mod from another Redditor by the username bachmanis. It is linked in the comment on the original post for players wanting to try and make this build themselves.

Unfortunately, Ivanttoridemybicycle says that this is likely the last one that they are going to do. This is in part because they are running out of ideas for Skyrim NPCs that look unique enough to recreate and also because they have gotten swept up in other games of late. Players wanting to see more like this should be sure to check the post for links to their other creations, however.

Skyrim is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
