As beloved as The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is, with its extensive lore, large open world, and run-ins with scaly dragons, much of its charm seems to lie in the fact that it's actually quite a buggy mess. Even the Skyrim Anniversary Edition has some game breaking glitches, but it doesn't seem to harm people's love for it, as players are wont to share the most amusing mishaps with others online. Many of these issues can be attributed to the game's physics engine, and sometimes players can use it to their advantage.

In the Skyrim subreddit, user walter-fring has discovered a way to use a seemingly harmless item in order to kill an NPC. Spotting a wheelbarrow that's lying innocently against a wall, they run at it, which causes it to flip in the air like a rocket. Using this knowledge, they then seek out an elderly character, whereupon they run at a wheelbarrow placed in front of the NPC, and she is immediately killed by it.

Interestingly enough, this wasn't just some random act of violence on the player's part. The person they killed with the wheelbarrow is actually Grelod the Kind who must be killed as part of Skyrim's Dark brotherhood side quest. Traditionally, the Dragonborn would likely off the cruel orphanage owner in some standard fashion, such as with a blade, bow and arrow, or maybe magic. But it's amusing that walter-fring found a unique way of turning something mundane into an offensive weapon and decided to use this newfound skill to complete a mission.

To many, bugs in games can often be frustrating, usually hindering progress or destroying immersion. But for some reason, the sight of a glitch in the Bethesda epic RPG just seems to add to its appeal. In fact, there are even some helpful bugs in Skyrim, such as being able to level up significantly at the start or the notorious basket over the head trick that allows players to steal items without repercussions.

Attention may be turning to the release date of The Elder Scrolls 6, but Skryim's legacy is still continuing after more than a decade. With fans discovering new ways to play the game, which in this case means messing with the physics to some extent, not to mention all the mods that are available, its popularity is unlikely to dwindle soon, even after the next game comes out. It also begs the question of what other unusual methods can be employed to murder NPCs.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Anniversary Edition is available now for available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
