An artistic Skyrim fan made a beautiful piece of art depicting the Nordic realm of Sovngarde. They hand painted the Skyrim landscape and then decided to share it with the internet.

In the Elder Scrolls universe, Sovngarde is the realm where Nordic warriors go when they fall in battle. It's similar to Valhalla in the real world, as it is the domain of the Nords' warrior god and creator, Shor, and they will only go to Sovngarde if they die bravely in combat. Players can also visit Sovngarde in Skyrim, although they use a portal to enter the realm as opposed to dying in battle. The area in-game is, fittingly, very beautiful and otherworldly.

This particular piece of art was created by Skyrim fan Sarahs_Art_Space and posted to the game's subreddit. The painting depicts the aurora borealis in Sovngarde's sky, as well as some of the landscape and the Hall of Valor. The Hall of Valor is also known as Shor's Hall, and the various Nord warriors who died valiantly reside in it, eating, drinking, and celebrating. Sarahs_Art_Space's painting is very well done, and reflects something of a modern impressionist style. Famous historical impressionist artists include Claude Monet, Edouard Manet, Pierre-August Renoir, and some more modern examples include talented artists like Marko Mavrovich, Yuval Wolfson, and Daniel Wall.

Many players enjoy seeing fan art that fellow fans create, and especially so when it's hand painted in such an interesting style. While there are more realistic and detailed pieces of Skyrim fan art, there's something very charming and enchanting about seeing Sovngarde depicted in this sort of way. It definitely fits the otherworldly ambiance of the supernatural realm, and is a fitting tribute to the work that developers and artists put into designing the area in Skyrim as well.

While a lot of players spend large portions of their playtime in Skyrim battling bandits, slaying dragons, or fighting off town guards defending a chicken, there are also a lot of gorgeous scenic views to take in while traveling across the game's world. And although the base game does look great, especially when playing updated versions like Skyrim Anniversary Edition, for players who want a little extra beauty and immersion, there are a lot of fantastic graphics mods for Skyrim. With how popular the RPG is and how many great views are in the game, it's safe to say that creative fans will be making awesome fan art of Skyrim for a long time yet.
