The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is nearing its 10th anniversary, and so the classic open world game from Bethesda has been enjoying some renewed attention from the community. It seems many fans are returning to The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim while they wait for news on The Elder Scrolls 6, while others are discovering the game for the first time. Dedicated Skyrim players may already know all the tricks they can utilize to make things a little easier on them, but with the game nearly 10 years old at this point, it's safe to say that even some returning players may not know everything they can do in the game.

YouTuber ESO Shorts has been sharing helpful Skyrim tips on their channel for months now, including some that help players who wind up over encumbered with loot. For the uninitiated, Skyrim players that carry too much loot will have a frustratingly slow-moving character to deal with and won't be able to fast-travel anywhere to stash or sell their treasures. This can be annoying, but as pointed out in ESO Shorts videos, there are some ways around it.

ESO Shorts' first tip about fast-traveling in Skyrim is a simple one. Basically, if Skyrim players have a horse nearby, they can mount it and will be able to freely fast-travel just as they would if they weren't over encumbered.

ESO Shorts' other method for fast-traveling while over encumbered in Skyrim has a few more steps to it. It involves the old Skyrim trick of using corpses for storage. Players can dump all of their belongings onto a corpse so that they are no longer over encumbered, and then they can drag the dead body around with them. As explained in ESO Shorts' video, it's also possible for players to use the Reanimate Spell or The Ritual Stone to animate the corpse and have it follow them on their adventures.

Once the corpse is up and walking around, players can fast-travel anywhere on Skyrim's map and the walking corpse should be right there with them. When Skyrim players are ready to regain their loot, they can simply kill the corpse, rinse and repeat as necessary. Either method seems like it will be very helpful for any Skyrim players who want to avoid getting over encumbered when starting up any new playthroughs.

Anyone interested in jumping back into Skyrim should note that there are numerous ways to do so. The game is available on basically every modern console, with there even being a Skyrim Switch port available so fans can play it on the go.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is out now for PC, PS3, PS4, Switch, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
