The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim was first released back in November 2011 and has since been ported to many platforms. The game has also seen numerous remasters including the Skyrim Anniversary Edition which was released to celebrate the ten-year anniversary of Skyrim. Since its release, has also sold over 30 million copies, making it one of the best-selling video games of all time.

In Skyrim, there are many random events that can occur in the game which can make the world feel more lived-in and help to make each playthrough more unique for the player. These can include events such as an NPC asking the player for a specific item, to seeing a dragon flying overhead.

A Reddit user called Carlini_95 recently posted a clip that shows an NPC in Skyrim who transformed into a Werewolf before attacking the player in one of the coolest random events in the game. Some NPCs do transform into Werewolves and other creatures as part of quests, but it is unusual to see a Werewolf transformation when outside the quest line.

This is one of the coolest random events because the game is set up to allow for any player to encounter a werewolf at any time, with it usually happening at the most unexpected time. An NPC that transforms into a Werewolf appears to be similar to the hundreds of other characters that a player will meet throughout the game, but then they turn with a great-looking animation and begin attacking.

A player can turn into a Werewolf by becoming infected with Lycanthropy, which happens by progressing through the Companions quest line. This means that an NPC who can turn into a Werewolf must be infected too, although there is no way of being able to tell that an NPC is until they transform. Many players wanted lycanthropy in The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, but it is notably absent from the game unless mods are used on the PC version, meaning fans were very happy to see it finally be included in Skyrim.

With Skyrim being such a large game with a huge open world, it is likely that the next entry in the series, The Elder Scrolls 6, is still a few years away yet. Technology has advanced a lot since 2011, meaning that the next game should be even bigger with a more rich world to explore. In the meantime, players will be able to get a glimpse at what Bethesda is capable of when utilizing modern hardware when their next game, the open-world Sci-Fi RPG Starfield, releases on November 11, 2022.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Anniversary Edition is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
