Fans know surprisingly little about The Elder Scrolls 6 despite the fact that it was announced all the way back in 2018. While rampant speculation has caused fans to comb over The Elder Scrolls 6’s teaser trailer with a fine comb, others are turning their attention back to Skyrim, the most recent mainline entry in the franchise. Most of that attention is thanks to the modding community, with one recent mod being particularly impressive.

Over on Nexus Mods, a community hub for thousands of mods for games ranging from Skyrim to Cyberpunk 2077, modder arminZX12 has created a mod called Milandriel that adds an impressive chunk of Valenwood to the land of Skyrim. For the uninitiated, Valenwood is the province that Wood Elves, or Bosmer, traditionally call home. It’s typically portrayed as a beautiful, but dangerous, woodland, and arminZX12 has captured it well.

One of the defining features of Wood Elf villages in Valenwood is the treehouse-style structures that Bosmer make into homes, which have been recreated here. The mod also adds a custom shrine, dungeon, and a small village for players to visit. Plus, there are some other features and secrets to uncover that the mod author has sprinkled in.

The user has left a few buildings locked but empty, which they won’t be able to fill as they’ve run out of time for the mod. However, the village still looks impressive nonetheless. Of course, to capture it just as the mod author has will require some outside mods, like Origins Of Forest, which, as the name implies, makes Skyrim’s forests more appealing.

Bosmer settlements are some of the more interesting, canonically speaking. While Elder Scrolls lore is notably strange, the Bosmer are particular standouts due to some of their finer details, like the Green Pact. While the Green Pact is a pretty complicated topic, the gist is that it doesn’t allow Bosmer to harvest wood from trees or eat vegetables. Instead, Green Pact Bosmer turn to cannibalism to stay fed.

While Valnewood would be a wonderful location to explore in an Elder Scrolls game, it might not happen anytime soon. Currently, fans believe that The Elder Scrolls 6 will take place in Hammerfell, though that’s largely just speculation at the moment. There’s some evidence pointing that way, but it will likely be a few years before fans can be sure. In the meantime, at least mods like this are adding interesting new content.

Skyrim is available now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
