A fan of The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim has released a mod that adds an undead pizzeria to the game. The mod is a great opportunity for Skyrim players to take a break from hunting dragons and questing, and enjoy the finer things in life.

After its release in 2011, Skyrim became the standard to which other open worlds in gaming had to live up to. While other games have come and gone, Skyrim's popularity has endured as it remains among the most-played titles on Steam. Ultimately, it's fan creations like this mod that have enabled the game to leave its lasting mark on pop culture, and these creations come in many forms. Some fans create replica props from Skyrim to have in their homes. Some fans recreate areas from Skyrim in other game engines. Even just continuing to discuss the game online contributes to its enduring legacy.

The mod created by Nexus Mods user hrodeberht1 is titled "Necro Pizzeria," and adds an undead pizzeria to the world of Skyrim. The pizzeria, as described by the mod author, is "manned by a literal skeleton crew," and allows players to eat and bake pizza alongside the Pizzamancer, who runs the establishment alongside his undead companions. It's clear that the creator isn't taking themselves too seriously with the mod, citing "skeletons with moustaches" as a key feature for players to enjoy. Skyrim mods becoming less serious has become more common recently, with one player using mods to turn into Batman and wreak havoc in Whiterun.

The mod is the sequel to another mod by the same author, which added a pizza delivery service to Skyrim. While on the surface these mods may seem silly, real thought has gone into their development. The mods integrate seamlessly with Skyrim's Survival Mode, allowing players to stave off hunger with skeleton-baked pizza. The Pizzamancer NPC is fully voiced, too. The mod isn't the most lore-friendly of mods, but the effort that's gone into this definitely deserves respect for the mod author.

It's mods like this that speak to the creativity of the Skyrim modding community. With over 60,000 mods available since the game's initial release, players are able to morph Skyrim into almost any game imaginable, with unique ideas continuing to emerge even twelve years after release. Some mods even add guns transforming Skyrim into a full-fledged FPS. There is no doubt that the modding community has made the agonizing wait for The Elder Scrolls 6 more bearable. Hopefully, more news on the sequel will arrive in 2023, after the long-awaited release of Bethesda's next RPG, Starfield.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
