The concept of eating and drinking is not typically something that concerns most players of The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim or any open-world RPG. It obviously injects some realism into the world, but unless fans are playing in Survival Mode which came with the Anniversary Edition of Skyrim, food and drink is mainly for role-playing purposes. However, that doesn't mean that there shouldn't be a lot of options available for the hungry traveler, and one new mod adds a little touch of something more modern.

As spotted by PCGamesN, modders hrodeberht1 and bella have taken the concept of a classic hot dog stall and inserted it into Skyrim. The mod, which is called "Sausages of Solitude," adds a cart selling the classic American food to the city's marketplace. There are five different types of hot dogs available, according to the description on Nexus Mods, and the cart even sports a number of buns, as well as a bottle of ketchup and mustard. Players can eat to their heart's content at the stall between 8am and 10pm.

A little bit of modernity in a world such as Tamriel may seem out of place, but it could provide that little bit of home comfort for the more contemporary Dragonborn protagonist. In fact, this isn't even the first time hrodeberht1 and bella have done something like this. A while back, they also created a mod for Skyrim that adds a burger restaurant called "Big Jarl," which is situated near Broken Fang Cave in between Whiterun and Rorikstead, convenient for the hero on the road. This one also comes with its own "stupid mascot."

There are a number of interesting mods for Skyrim, many of which can alter the way the game is played. A lot of add-ons feature graphical upgrades that really push the engine, as well as people's systems, to the very limits. Some fix the many bugs that have plagued Bethesda's epic since it was released more than a decade ago. And yet others still, such as "Sausages of Solitude," add just that extra bit of something, especially for those who play the game on Survival Mode.

With The Elder Scrolls 6 allegedly still in pre-development, it could be a while before fans see a new installment in the long-running series. For now, the modding community will continue to make improvements to the vanilla experience, either through visual add-ons, new quests, or just by adding some place for the Dragonborn to get a hot dog.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
