While vampires are common NPCs in the world of Skyrim, they don't have much of a personality, which is why a new mod fixes that by adding in a lot more dialogue that's been spliced from already existing lines. Despite how old Bethesda's 2011 release is, it's not hard to see why The Elder Scrolls 5 is still so popular. It may have aged in terms of its graphics, but it still has some breathtaking locations and engaging gameplay. It's also become a huge part of gaming culture, with memes aplenty, and one other reason for its longevity is the modding community.

Modding Skyrim has been important since day one, with countless custom addons being made and released by fans. Whether it's a desire to tweak the visuals to make the game even prettier, change up the UI to something more user friendly, implement new quests, characters, locations, or even just add something silly to this otherwise sincere RPG, there's a mod out there for all tastes and play styles.

A recent mod comes from JaySerpa over on Nexus Mods. Simply called "Vampire Lines Expansion," this Skyrim modification adds around 150 lines of vampire dialogue through the clever use of splicing. Essentially, the aim is to inject more personality into these bloodsuckers, with the modder saying that players will have more unique encounters with the NPCs. However, the description also says that the mod applies to other factions like the Necromancers, as well as to characters that use the same voice type. But it's the game's vampires that's the main focus here.

It's possible to become a vampire in Skyrim, which is useful for those who like the idea of being a stalker of the night, hunting down victims to suck their blood. It's just one of the many ways there are to play TES5. The benefits of becoming a vampire include an increased effectiveness with illusion spells and being better at sneaking, though players will obviously be weak to sunlight, as is tradition. Anyone who's played the Dawnguard expansion will be familiar with Vampirism, particularly through Serana.

JaySerpa has released several mods for the game, with a recent example being one that revamps Skyrim's Dark Brotherhood quest line, adding new good and evil paths. Essentially, modding is helping to keep The Elder Scrolls 5 in the gaming spotlight. While many feel the next installment is long overdue, at least there are plenty of dedicated fans in the community who continue to put out some interesting custom content.

The Elder Scrolls 5 Skyrim: Anniversary Edition is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
