It doesn't take long for Skyrim players to stumble across their first Giant. At first, players might think they can handle anything the world has to throw at them, especially with their newfound powers as Dragonborn, but the Giant will quickly dispel that delusion. These enemies are incredibly tough, and what's more, Giants herd Mammoths as well. As a pair, it takes a very high level player to take down both a Giant and its Mammoth, and a viral clip online is showing that this is a task even dragons struggle with. Redditor th0rdthy shares their epic experience of a Giant and Mammoth taking down a Dragon together.

According to the lore, Dragons should be the greatest threat facing Skyrim, but this encounter would imply that it's really Giants that the Nords should be worrying about. This whole situation is equal parts amazing to watch and strange to think about, as although it is really cool, it does break several of the rules set up within the game itself.

The biggest rule that it breaks is the fact that a Giant and a Mammoth were able to take down a Dragon in the first place. The reason for this anomaly is the way Skyrim handles level scaling of Dragons. Early on, Dragons are actually surprisingly weak, and players are able to take one down with relative ease. By contrast, Mammoths and Giants are unique in that their level does not scale alongside the player. Instead, they are consistently at level 32 (30 for Mammoths), which is easily enough to take down a player and, apparently, a dragon.

/-Many commenters on the post compare this fight to turf wars from Monster Hunter World, as those also depict two larger than life enemies duking it out. Although players can't see the start of the fight above, watching the health bar of the Dragon reveals that the Giant didn't really start swinging until the player got close enough to watch. It's insane how quickly the Giant is able to reduce the Dragon's health bar, and it doesn't take long after that for the Mammoth to finish it off. The two then simply turn around and walk away as though nothing had happened.

For some players, this is an awesome example of how Skyrim can create incredible scenarios completely at random, but others consider it immersion breaking. The weakness of these enemies in Skyrim, especially early on in the game, prompts many players to install mods that make Dragons stronger.

Skyrim is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
