A huge part of the gameplay in The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is leveling its numerous player abilities throughout any given playthrough. Given the large volume of abilities to choose from, and the player's option to level up specific abilities instead of others, it allows Skyrim to be approached in a variety of ways. Although, one player has figured out a way to level up a particular ability with unexpected efficiency.
Skyrim players who want to build a stealth character or join the Thieves Guild should heavily invest in the lockpicking skill. Even without the malicious intent, lockpicking is one of the core mechanics of Skyrim and can make the quality of gameplay much more streamlined depending on the situation. However, it takes frequent lockpicking in order to level up, which is what makes the method developed by this certain player so brilliant.
A Reddit user by the name of PlanetExpr5510n found a way to level up the lockpicking ability much faster using an interesting procedure. By tying a bungie cord to the top of the control stick of their Xbox One controller while in the lockpicking menu, the player can continue to break lockpicks continuously without having to manually break each and everyone. Whether the player succeeds or fails, the lockpicking skill will continue to level up.
However, this method does present a rather pressing issue. While the bungie cord does most of the work, the player would still have to wait for all the lockpicks to break and subsequently, have the lockpicking skill gradually level up. Fortunately, PlanetExpr5510n also provides a solution to this problem, by suggesting to watch something on Hulu while waiting for the skill to level up.
It's amazing to see how far Skyrim has come since its initial launch almost a decade ago. Not many other games can claim to possess the same longevity in terms of relevance and popularity within the gaming community. The fact that Skyrim is still being played to this day, but also seeing how fans are still creating mods for the game, like the recent mods that turns the moon in Skyrim into the Death Star or Todd Howard's head, is quite impressive.
It will be interesting to see what the future holds for The Elder Scrolls series overall. While The Elder Scrolls 6 has been confirmed to be in development for several years now, there hasn't been much by way of official news regarding the game. With any luck, new information will surface in due time, but right now, fans still remain unsure of what Skyrim's successor will look like.
