The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is home to some of the most inventive mods in gaming. From gameplay mods to texture-based mods, there have even been mods released that add entire new quests for players to enjoy, separate from what's already presented in Skyrim. Though, there's also one mod that inserts a much more modern vehicle into the game with hilarious results.

Of the aspects of Skyrim that have been modded in a variety of different ways, dragons have received quite a lot of different mods. There are mods that transform the dragons of Skyrim into a variety of different things and characters, such as Macho Man Randy Savage and Thomas the Tank Engine. However, there is one texture mod that tends to get overlooked that turns the dragons into something much more modern compared to the high fantasy setting that Skyrim is known for.

A Reddit user by the name of FLYSWATTER_93 shared a video of a mod that turns the dragons into jet planes. Similar to the Thomas the Tank Engine mod, the plane's movement is quite sporadic and often times will just land vertically, shooting out ice blasts exactly like the dragons would. In any case, it's still interesting to see an aspect of modernity in an otherwise medieval-based setting.

Many of the mods presented in Skyrim are based on characters from other games or intellectual properties. So, to have something like a fighter jet that's not exactly from anything and exists solely to contrast the fantasy setting is quite refreshing to see in a way. The only other modern mods that come to mind are the mods that add realistic guns into Skyrim.

It's amazing to see how the modding community for Skyrim has managed to persist for so long. Skyrim has been out for nearly a decade now and released on all different kinds of gaming systems, yet the player base continues to remain active to this day. New mods are still being produced for Skyrim even now, with mods based on The Mandalorian releasing for the game.

It will be interesting to see if the Skyrim community continues to remain active following the release of The Elder Scrolls 6. Considering how games like Morrowind and Oblivion continue to remain relevant to some degree, the influence of Skyrim will likely continue to be felt down the line. Then again, it's possible that The Elder Scrolls 6 could surpass Skyrim in some ways, but right now, it's impossible to know what the final game will look like, given the lack of concrete information.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is available now on PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Switch, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
