Rocketwertz revealed that Icarus, a brutal upcoming survival game that’s designed to give a "Skyrim feel" for players, now has a release date. From the creators of Day Z, Icarus is a session-based PvE game about surviving an alien "world determined to wear you down or tear you apart”.

According to RocketWerkz, Icarus will launch on December 4th, which is right around the corner. This good news follows the initial release window of the game in August, and since then, RocketWerkz has spewed a series of beta weekends for pre-ordering players to experience what's to offer over the past few months.

"After three months of beta testing and feedback from one of the most engaged gamer communities I've ever seen, Icarus is ready for launch," says RocketWerkz founder and developer Dean Hall. Icarus supports solo play and co-ops up to eight players among long-lasting missions on the planet initially meant to be a second Earth. Per Icarus's intense gameplay, it emphasizes exploration, hunting, and collecting to survive a multitude of dangers such as game-altering weather events, a toxic atmosphere, and vicious wildlife. Players are thrown into the trenches as the game stresses the urgency to craft and keep stock as time is limited on the deviously familiar alien world.

The game's survival aspect was designed to give a "Skyrim feel" to players familiar with the PvE open-world exploration title. The released Icarus trailer shows that the planet possesses three biomes (desert, arctic, and temperate forests) for players to explore. The developers expressed the planet as having a "temper" when advising players to prepare for what they will encounter. The challenges of gathering supplies, making sure the character has oxygen and food, keep players on their toes in remote areas. They can also acquire rare exotic items that they can engineer into advanced technologies on their ships.

Each mission done on Icarus is limited, increasing the pressure as players battle the clock to return to the orbital ship in a timely fashion. As players gather and craft, the game allows them to build settlements as a refuge on the planet and forge machinery. Icarus also gives No Man's Sky vibes with its explorative aspects among its Skyrim inspiration, its open-world sessions grasping players with beautiful graphics.

Icarus is available to pre-order on Steam with a limited-time discount of 10% off which ends on December 13th. But also, players and the developers have released plenty of videos covering each beta weekend and new developments on the game per YouTube and Icarus' website, Surviving Icarus. Fans won't have much longer to wait as December is around the corner, but still, have time to experience its Community beta weekend occurring November 20-21st.

Icarus will release December 4th on Steam.
