Shirley Curry, better known as Skyrim Grandma, has made a name for herself on YouTube. The 85-year-old YouTuber regularly uploads videos of herself playing Bethesda's The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, starting each video with her catchphrase, "Good morning, grandkids." Curry's exploits in the land of Skyrim have made her a gaming celebrity, with her popularity enough to convince Bethesda to immortalize her as an NPC in the upcoming Elder Scrolls 6.

Curry's YouTube career has really taken off since her first video playing Skyrim was uploaded six years ago. Curry has now managed to surpass 1 million subscribers on YouTube, and as a result, YouTube has sent her a gold Play Button. A gold Play Button is one of the highest accolades one can achieve on YouTube, but there are other trophies Curry can still obtain. 10 million subscribers gets YouTubers a Diamond Play Button, while 50 million sees YouTube send out a special award based on that creator's channel. The highest accolade is 100 million subscribers in the form of the Red Diamond Creator Award, though only four YouTube channels in existence have managed to earn it so far.

As Curry's YouTube channel continues to grow, fans can expect her to keep sharing her Skyrim adventures as well as some personal details about her life. Unfortunately, Curry recently suffered a stroke, which caused her to forget how to play Skyrim for a while. Curry received an outpouring of support from fans following this incident, with Bethesda even sending her a gift package full of Elder Scrolls goodies.

Curry has become a prominent figure in the Skyrim community, to the point where she was asked to speak at a PAX East panel last month. At PAX East, Curry addressed a variety of topics, including Starfield and The Elder Scrolls 6. She said that she wants Todd Howard to hurry up and finish Elder Scrolls 6 so that she can play the game before she dies. She didn't express much interest in Starfield, though she was asked about the game before Bethesda even showed any gameplay.

Bethesda revealed Starfield gameplay at the recent Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase, revealing that the game is basically going to be like Skyrim in space. Considering this, maybe it will be something that Curry will want to check out whenever it launches next year. The shift from a fantasy world to a sci-fi setting may not be of interest to the YouTuber, but maybe it will help tide her over while she waits for Elder Scrolls 6.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim - Anniversary Edition is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
