Long time fans of the Elder Scrolls series are likely aware of Skyrim Grandma Shirley Curry, a YouTuber that regularly posts Skyrim video content on her channel. Curry often calls her audience her "grandkids" and is even being scanned into Elder Scrolls 6 to become an NPC.

For as long as she's been active, Curry has been a beacon of positivity for the Elder Scrolls community, with Curry even getting her own Skyrim mod. However, it seems that a portion of the internet hasn't been returning the favor – at least in the case of some trolls. Curry posted an update to her YouTube channel following a string of rude comments three weeks ago, elaborating that she would only be looking at and responding to a few comments from here on out.

Shirley hasn't uploaded any videos since then, but in a positive change, her fans have flooded her videos with kind words and affirmation, burying most of the negativity on the channel. It's a wholesome moment from an otherwise dark event, but it's a shame that it ever happened in the first place.

"My health isn't very good," Curry says in the video, "My blood pressure is going insane, my stress level way too high, and I'm going to have to take control of it." Much of the stress seemingly came from others trying to explain Skyrim to her – a game Curry has played for years – along with harassment about other games she should try. In the video, Curry stated that she is well aware of which games are releasing, and reminded the audience that she is a gamer.

The internet is often plagued by trolls and bad-faith critics, leading to a hostile environment pretty frequently. That Curry was a target of harassment – even if the comments were made in good faith – is despicable. Hopefully, Curry is able to return to gaming after some well-earned vacation time, as she is a positive figure for her community, with many in the comments reminding her of that fact.

It will be a long time before Elder Scrolls 6 news releases, and Curry's inclusion in the game remains one of the few confirmed pieces of information. With any luck, the game will release in the next few years, and Curry will have plenty of other adventures throughout Tamriel.

Skyrim is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
