While The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is mostly about completing quests and exploring its massive open world, players can also choose to settle down with a family. Skyrim players are able to purchase a home, get married, and raise a child with their significant other. They're even able to build a relationship with their children by giving them gifts, though one Skyrim player may think twice about what they give their kids in the future.

Skyrim player pw1gla gave their son a Daedric Dagger of Petrifying, which, as its name implies, renders anyone unlucky enough to get stabbed with it completely immobilized. Their son then started swinging the Daedric Dagger around as practice, accidentally stabbing the player character in the process. As seen in a clip of the incident shared by pw1gla, this left them petrified and stuck on the ground.

Part of the reason why Skyrim has such longevity is due to the potential for it to create hilarious and unexpected moments like this one. With Skyrim: Anniversary Edition right around the corner, one has to imagine that both new and returning players will flock to the re-release and wind up creating unexpected moments of their own.

Skyrim: Anniversary Edition will have new features not seen in the previous versions of Skyrim, which opens the door to the possibility of new funny situations for players to find themselves in. While Bethesda has not offered a complete rundown on all of the new Skyrim: Anniversary Edition features, it has confirmed one new gameplay mechanic that fans can check out once the game launches in November.

Skyrim: Anniversary Edition is adding fishing, which could be a fun new activity, or at the very least, a fresh distraction for those that have already played through the previous versions of the game extensively. The game also marks the proper debut of Skyrim on next-generation consoles, so barring any unforeseen technical problems, Skyrim: Anniversary Edition should be the definitive and best way to experience Bethesda's classic open world action-RPG.

The Skyrim: Anniversary Edition release date a little over a month away at this point, so the wait is coming to an end. Whether or not there's enough new content in Skyrim: Anniversary Edition to justify yet another re-release of the game is up for debate, but if nothing else, it should be something to keep fans busy while they wait to learn more about Bethesda's new upcoming games like Starfield and of course, the long-awaited Elder Scrolls 6.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is out now for PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and legacy platforms.
