The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Anniversary Edition has arrived, celebrating 10 years of Bethesda's legendary fantasy RPG. The latest edition of Skyrim not only contains all the features of the Special Edition but also a huge amount of community-created content from the Creation Club system.

One of the larger Creation Club Packs included in Skyrim Anniversary Edition is Forgotten Seasons, which features a huge new dungeon called Runoff Caverns. While exploring Runoff Caverns, players will find new items, books, powers, and enemies, as well as get the chance to restore a robotic dwarven horse, known as a Vamidium.

Starting the Dwarven Horse Quest in Skyrim

Skyrim Anniversary Forgotten Seasons Runoff Cavern

Unlike many of the Creation Club quests in Skyrim Anniversary Edition, the Dwarven Horse quest won't automatically enter players' journals. Instead, players must first find the Runoff Caverns in the Reach, roughly halfway between Markarth and Falkreath. The remains of the Vamidium itself can be found on the ground just outside the dungeon, and activating it will start the quest.

To rebuild the horse, players will need to find its four missing legs and its head, all of which can be found in Runoff Caverns. The dungeon is divided into four sections, each representing a different season. All five pieces of the Dwarven Horse can be found in the Autumn's Bells section, which can be identified by a large amount of spiky grass and strangely-colored rabbits. Like most of Runoff Caverns, the area is guarded by Skyrim's Dwemer enemies, so players should be ready for a tough fight.

The five parts of the Dwarven Horse are scattered around the Autumn's Bells section of the new Skyrim dungeon:

  • Right Front Leg: Found almost immediately after arriving in Autumn's Bells, next to the body of the dead mercenary in the entrance hall.
  • Left Back Leg: Found in the main room of Autumn's Bells, near the field of Glowing Red Wheat. Specifically, it's tucked behind a chest on the east side of the collapsed tower.
  • Right Back Leg: Also found in the main room, and reached by crossing the bridge in the center. It can be looted from under the collapsed building to the south of the Sickly Green Wheat.
  • Left Front Leg: The final piece in the main room can be found against the south wall, placed on a pedestal.
  • Head: To collect the head players will need to complete the Autumn's Bells puzzle, harvesting six different kinds of wheat and depositing them into the containers. This will unlock the treasure room, where the head can be found on a pile of gold.

Once players have gathered all five pieces they can return to the surface and activate the broken torso of the Vamidium once again. This will create a functioning mechanical horse, one of the most interesting mounts in Skyrim.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Anniversary Edition is available for PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One and Series X|S.
