Since The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim came out in 2011, it has seen no end of mods that have kept the game fresh for the last ten years. Some modifications implement tweaks, fix bugs, or add new content. However, probably one of the most ambitious and popular fan made add-ons for the game is Nick Pearce's The Forgotten City which is now a standalone game. It has earned its creator a Writer's Guild Award, with its intricate time loop narrative. Now it appears that this former mod will be coming to Xbox Game Pass.

According to a report, Xbox Game Pass will be adding yet more games to its roster, seeing out the remainder of October. The Forgotten City is among the list, which outlines just how popular it is among the community. The mod was originally released for Skyrim in 2016, before being launched as a full game earlier this year. It tells the story of a city that now lies in ruins. Players are tasked with exploring the city, which is under the protection of the gods where if anyone commits a crime, all citizens are punished and turned into gold.

The Forgotten City was not originally due to come to Game Pass. However, this latest development suggests that the mod/game is something that subscribers to the Microsoft service have been waiting for. Given its award-winning status and its newfound popularity as a fully-fleshed out title, it was perhaps inevitable that it would be made available in other capacities. The Forgotten City is due to come to the subscription service on October 28.

On top of that, there have been a few other titles that will be coming to Game Pass. Perhaps most notable of all is the anticipated Age of Empires 4 which recently had a new trailer. There's also Alan Wake's American Nightmare, the 2012 follow-up to the recently remastered Alan Wake game. Similar to The Forgotten City, both AoE4 and American Nightmare will be available on Game Pass on October 28.

Just before that, there is also Outriders and Everspace 2, both of which will be available on October 19. Despite subscriber count growing slower than expected, there is still a lot of content that's coming to the service that many fans may want to get their hands on. Fans have already seen the arrival of Back 4 Blood to Xbox Game Pass, so it shows that it's still a worthy service to go for.
