A Skyrim fan made the most of their post-surgery scar by getting a genius tattoo that references one of the most popular lines from the game. The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim originally came out over 10 years ago, and Bethesda recently launched its Anniversary Edition on the Switch. Users reported running into technical problems while playing the Switch version of Skyrim Anniversary Edition, but Bethesda released an update last month aimed at fixing this issue.

Since its release in 2011, many events and lines from The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim have turned into memes. Fans across various social media sites often joke about them while discussing any part of Skyrim, even if it’s seemingly unrelated to the main topic. While this is true for most titles coming out these days, Skyrim’s memes have probably become synonymous with the game itself. Now, one fan takes it even further by getting a genius tattoo related to one of the most famous lines from The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim.

A Reddit user named bthayes28 has shared a picture of a scar on their knee after it was surgically replaced. Bthayes28 decided to use this situation to reference the famous line in The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim "I used to be an adventurer like you, then I took an arrow in the knee." As seen in the picture, they got a perfect tattoo that makes it look like the knee surgery scar is an arrow’s shaft. The poster bthayes28 had to get their knee replaced after years of marathons, and almost used the words “I used to be a runner like you...” as the caption.

Many users in the comments section commend bthayes28 for their creativity and for making the most out of a surgery scar. Some even make references to another famous line related to sweetrolls in the world of Skyrim and one fan congratulates bthayes28 for the beginning of their new career path as an in-game guard.

Skyrim’s popularity has generated tons of memes over the years, and it’ll be interesting to see if upcoming Bethesda games like Starfield and The Elder Scrolls 6 can have a similar impact. The Elder Scrolls 6 will probably come with several references to Skyrim and previous games in the series, including the ongoing MMO The Elder Scrolls Online, and it looks like Starfield will feature the Adoring Fan from The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion in some way.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim - Anniversary Edition is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
