It appears love is in the air for one fan of The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim who was gifted an Amulet of Mara by their boyfriend. Traditionally used to open up romance options in Skyrim, the real-life recreation is a surprisingly accurate and well-crafted piece.

Though the replica may not qualify as one of the best accessories in Skyrim from a strictly mechanical perspective, it's nevertheless sought after by many players for its romantic applications. One of the 9 divines of the Elder Scrolls pantheon, Mara is the goddess of love. The amulet of her namesake provides players with a 10 percent reduction to restoration spell costs. The more valuable effect, however, is its ability to open up romantic dialogue options with certain NPCs, which can ultimately lead to marriage.

Recently, a lucky fan received a real-life recreation of the Amulet of Mara as a gift from their partner and shared a picture on Reddit. User Froggie1912 posted the image, and the replica's quality is impressive. The amulet is a nearly spot-on recreation, with its intricate design work and a round, emerald green stone inlaid at its center. Though the piece is missing some of the necklace portion of its in-game counterpart, what is present is more than enough to make clear what it is.

Froggie1912 was seemingly ecstatic with the amulet, referring to it as "the best gift ever." Many in the comments expressed congratulations or speculated on the couple's future, making reference to the accessory's intended use of wooing the many romantic partners available in Skyrim. However, Froggie1912 so far hasn't weighed in either way as to the possibility of a forthcoming wedding.

Aside from well-wishes from other users, the comments mostly contained a back and forth of quotes from the game's laughably ham-fisted romance dialogue, as well as discussion of which in-universe alcoholic beverage each commenter would imbibe in the couple's honor. The slew of quotes and references stand as yet another testament to the fervent fandom Skyrim has garnered. For a game with completely missable romance options, the system has still managed to stay ingrained in the hearts and minds of many fans.

Of course the marriage possibilities are just one piece of the puzzle when it comes to the reasons behind such widespread love. To this day, Skyrim is still considered to have one of the most beautifully complex fantasy worlds in gaming. With such a high bar set, no doubt fans are eager to see if Bethesda can one-up itself with the upcoming release of The Elder Scrolls 6.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
