The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim allows players to fully customize their game with the help of mods. While many are based on graphical enhancements and story content, some add entirely new features and other quality-of-life improvements. One fan recently showcased how speculator Skyrim looks with over 1,500 mods installed, but users can still make significant changes to the game without going overboard.

The mods officially released by Bethesda are known as Creations, and unlike regular mods, they do not disable achievements or trophies when used. All of these Creations were included in last year’s Skyrim Anniversary Edition, a new release celebrating the game’s 10-year anniversary. A Skyrim player now posts a funny incident involving one of the more well-known gameplay Creations included in this edition.

A player named chaotic_anarchist has uploaded a clip of them exploring a snowy region in Skyrim. It looks like chaotic_anarchist is playing on Survival mode, which is available to all users with the upgraded Skyrim Anniversary Edition. Chaotic_anarchist doesn’t have much health left and decides to eat something to regain HP. As seen in the clip, Hot Cabbage Soup restores 10 health points and 380 Hunger while also increasing Warmth by 25 for 300 seconds. Additionally, it restores 200 points of Cold, but chaotic_anarchist probably didn’t expect the events that followed.

The player instantly dies upon consuming the soup, and chaotic_anarchist immediately pauses the game, seemingly in disbelief. The Reddit post is appropriately titled “soup was too hot,” as it results in the player’s untimely demise. Survival Mode adds various other gameplay systems, including fatigue and deadly diseases, while disabling health regeneration and the ability to use fast travel.

Many users comment with jokes about the Hot Cabbage Soup, but some try to describe the incident. A player named Jaded_Vacation9084 speculates that chaotic_anarchist was using the Frostfall gameplay immersion mod in addition to Skyrim's Survival Mode. In this case, temperature deals damage, and it seems like players need to be mindful of how some of these mechanics interact with each other. Jaded_Vacation9084 believes that the player went into shock and died from having hot soup during a blizzard.

They claim that similar activities can be extremely dangerous when combined with certain Skyrim mods that add more realism to the game. It should be noted that all of these systems are completely optional, and users can play Skyrim without worrying about survival-based mechanics. Still, this hilarious video proves that users should be aware of the unique effects of some Skyrim mods.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
