Despite its age, The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim remains one of the most popular games ever released. With many in the gaming community actively playing Skyrim today and with the copious amounts of memorable in-game content for players to experience, it's easy to understand why the game has managed to persist for as long as it has. Although, the fans of the game have managed to celebrate Skyrim in a number of unique ways.
Over the years, fans have done a number of things to show off their appreciation for Skyrim. From cosplay, to fan-art, to real life weapon replicas. Overall, fans have been able to take so much from the game and apply it to real world elements in very exciting ways. Now, one player has found a clever way to welcome people into their home via Skyrim.
A Reddit user by the name of Smashrican showed off a doormat they bought on Etsy. However, the only marking on the doormat is the waypoint symbol above the parabolic entrance that players will see during active gameplay. This symbol means that in order to continue the questline, the player must enter a specific structure. The symbol often appears during both main quests and side quests in Skyrim.
This custom doormat is not only practical but is also extremely inventive. If a Skyrim fan were to walk up to a house and see this symbol on a doormat, then they immediately whoever owns the house is likely a fellow Skyrim fan. While weapon replicas, such as the recent glass dagger replica someone made, are awesome and incredibly detailed, sometimes something as simple as a doormat with the Skyrim waypoint symbol on it is more than enough to show a person's love for the game.
In any case, it's impressive how long Skyrim has managed to maintain its longevity. This year, the game will be turning ten years old and it still remains incredibly popular. Other than Grand Theft Auto 5, not many other games have managed to be ported across multiple successive console generations as Skyrim has.
It will be interesting to see what the future holds in terms of The Elder Scrolls series. While The Elder Scrolls 6 was officially announced a while back, there hasn't been much by way of additional information. Bethesda has yet to reveal any gameplay footage or an additional trailer for the game. With any luck, more information about the game will be revealed by the end of 2021.
