Looking back, The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim was the cutting edge of open-world role-playing video games on release. The immense freedom granted to players is enough that they can travel anywhere in the game, and can choose to ignore the main storyline indefinitely. Because of this, it's not hard to believe that few devoted Skyrim players go into the game without exploring every crack and crevice they can fit into. However, one Skyrim player uncovered an area they weren't aware existed for the seven years that they invested playing the game.

One thing that's for certain is that one Reddit user, midnight-spice considered themselves to be a Skyrim connoisseur. The Skyrim fan was otherwise convinced they had come across every location possible in the game, though their curiosity wasn't satisfied. Instead, the Redditor began tracing the world border to see how much of the area it wraps around, coming across the hidden dungeon-like location.

After a certain point, midnight-spice saw the opportunity for a screenshot. They had inadvertently come across Archwind Point, an area located south of the Alchemist's Shack. Some Skyrim fans may recognize the area from previous Legendary Dragon encounters or other radiant quests, though the location doesn't require a mandatory visit.

Despite resembling a dungeon, the area of Archwind Point is entirely exterior. It's simultaneously one of the most remote in the game, making it reasonable that midnight-spice didn't come across it right away. In fact, a lot of players shared that same sentiment, having discovered the location just recently or not knowing that it existed at all. For a game that'll be a decade old this coming November, the discoveries available in Skyrim are still plenty.

For high-level players or achievement hunters, the discovery of this location is of benefit as well. Archwind Point is one of the dragon lairs in Skyrim. Once players reach a certain level, the location becomes a guaranteed Legendary Dragon spawn area. That said, players should be cautious about how they approach. There are some Draugr that will force shout players without hesitation and send them flying.

In spite of Skyrim's longevity, fans have been long waiting for The Elder Scrolls 6 since its reveal at E3 2018. Unfortunately, not much news has come out as of recent. Todd Howard only provided players with the notification that The Elder Scrolls 6 was still in the design phase, much to the chagrin of the player base.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.
