In the world of The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, the dragons are the rulers of the sky. Players may need to trek carefully when they see a large shadow zoom across the horizon and a mighty roar can be heard from up above. Each dragon in Skyrim has its own backstory, and are an integral part of the game and its lore, but even so, there are times when the player can find a way to take to the skies, sometimes using the flying beasts as aid.

Uploading a short clip to the Skyrim Subreddit recently, user NotSweetroll managed to find a way for not only their player, but their player's horse, to fly high, soaring almost as majestically as the game's infamous winged beasts. The trick involved them climbing high up and then dropping onto the back of the dragon that resides at Skyborn Altar. Once the player landed on its back, the dragon took to the air. However, veering off course, the player and their horse were left flying in the air without the aid of said dragon, exhibiting yet another amusing bug as the pair float high above without a care in the world.

Skyborn Altar is one of many dragon lairs, and is located in one of the colder regions of the map, not far from Morthal. The fact that NotSweetroll used this particular dragon to pull off the trick is likely due to the fact that there is a vantage point which leads to above the creature, allowing them to leap onto its back from a great height, as was demonstrated in the video. The rest is simply one of Skyrim's many infamous glitches.

This is also not the first time that other beings have been able to soar high above. Another recent video showed one of Skyrim's giants riding on the back of a dragon, standing perfectly still on its tail as it took off just outside Whiterun. As glitchy as these moments are, they do offer a little bit of humor, as fans capture short clips of such happenings to amuse others.

At least it's a harmless glitch. Sadly, Skyrim is infamous for game-breaking bugs, some of which are still occurring in the Anniversary Edition, and have earned the game its reputation as a bit of a messy title since it was launched ten years ago. At least in this instance, NotSweetroll had some fun with this one bug, but it remains to be seen what happened to them and their horse once they landed.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is available for PC, PS3, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S.
