As well as its breathtaking locations and battles with dragons, Skyrim is known for its roster of playable races, and someone has managed to work out how the population of the province is divided up. With fans still waiting for The Elder Scrolls 6, Bethesda's 2011 epic RPG continues to get a lot of screen time for many. That's not necessarily a bad thing. There's so much to do and see in TES5 that it's possible for someone to encounter something they hadn't known about for years.

For newcomers to the game, picking a character is the first step, which can take a long time as there are so many options. Along with the other entries in the long-standing fantasy series, Skyrim has plenty of races to choose from, with choices depending largely on what sort of build the player is going for. Given the number of NPCs in the game, the world is populated by characters from different backgrounds and regions, but one person wanted to know exactly which race is the most prominent.

In a recent post on Reddit, a user has posted a pie chart showing the population of Skyrim. While they say the chart isn't theirs, what's interesting about the image is how the Nords are shown as the dominant people, making up 42% of the game's inhabitants. Second are the Imperials, making up 13%, while Bretons account for 12% of the pie. One comment did question why there are so many Bretons, but a response said they also count as Forsworn. There's no way to tell how accurate this chart is or how the numbers were reached, but some may not be too surprised to see that the Nords make up the majority of the population.

Nords are one of the most popular races in Skyrim, with their long blonde hair and thick Scandinavian-style accents making them stand out. According to the lore, they were led to the province of Skyrim by the Atmoran leader and warrior Ysgramor. They're also known to have incredible resistance to the cold, so it makes sense that they would be able to settle in such a chilly place.

With Skyrim fans still discussing their most hated NPCs, where the best city to live is, and how the game's economy stays afloat, it's good to see so many getting involved in heated TES5 debates. There's no way to know whether The Elder Scrolls 6 will enjoy such a long shelf life. It's certainly going to take some work to leave behind a legacy as big as Skyrim's.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is available for PC, PS3, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
