Even though it's 10 years old at this point, it can take a person a very long time to find something that is well hidden in The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, even if said details have been in the game this whole time. One player noticed an interesting detail in Sovngarde's sky map which reveals the constellations for the Mage, Thief, and Warrior, something that most would easily have missed. Now, another user has discovered a hidden secret they didn't know was there. But this one is much more gruesome.

Posting to Reddit recently, user u/coyotemachete uploaded a screenshot from The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim which, by itself, tells a tale of a bloody and violent end for one unknown individual. The image shows a giant boulder, underneath of which lies a crushed skeleton, with a lantern close to their head. Strewn about the scene is splatters of blood. The backdrop is hardly much of a mystery, clearly showing that some poor character met their demise underneath this giant rock some time ago.

While the history about the bloody sight are lost to time, u/coyotemachete was able to tell the commenters on Reddit that they found the crushed skeleton in Eastmarch. For those who don't know, Eastmarch is part of the nine Holds of Skyrim and has many interesting unmarked locations. One of which is the mournful giant, which depicts one of the game's largest human-like NPCs by the body of a dead mammoth, suggesting the giant is grieving the loss of this magnificent beast. Given that the area is so vast, it's hardly surprising the Reddit user only just managed to find this gory scene. It's likely they simply stumbled upon it by chance.

There's enough in the game that's been keeping the world fresh after all these years. Fans are forever finding hidden Skyrim details some of which raise unanswered questions. What u/coyotemachete has discovered is another small aspect of Tamriel which may leave many with some question for the player, even if others already knew about it. It's unlikely they will never know the story of this poor being, whose skeleton leaves behind a piece of violent in-game history which shows that it's not just dragons that are dangerous for players and NPCs.

With Eastmarch containing so much detail that's easy to miss, the fact that this one particular gamer took years to find this one small, yet gruesome, detail is a testament to just how big Skyrim actually is.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
