The Elder Scrolls series is full of unique and interesting dialogue. By conversing with NPCs, players can learn a great deal about the world, deep lore, cultures, peoples, and many more topics. They can also respond in kind and give their stance on certain matters and situations. Sometimes for benefits but sometimes to the ire of those the player speaks to.
Skyrim is home to many interesting dialogue options where the Dragonborn can express themselves in a number of satisfying ways outside of combat. Though, certain dialogues choices can lead to combat from either being rude or cheeky, which is not necessarily a bad thing and can result in much laughter.
10 "Looks Like You're No Longer Needed. Time To Die."
Despite being completely non-threatening to the Dragonborn, and, in fact, very helpful, the player can straight-up attack Angi for no reason. This archery teacher is apparently in hiding from Imperials after slaying the scoundrel soldiers that murdered her parents. She may have issues with the law, but there is unlikely to be any player who hasn't been in similar situations. Regardless of this, there are dialogue options to initiate combat with the helpful woman that includes severe statements, even after accepting and completing her training.
9 "Are You Saying You Want To Learn More About Me?"
During the Dragonborn's adventures with the Serana, much lore about vampires can be uncovered, though that is not all. When the player asks about the Elder Scroll that she was locked away with for a long time, she mentions that one cannot learn about something merely by sleeping with it, to which the Dragonborn can respond flirtatiously. Funnily enough, she shuts the player down by responding with "I guess you'll never find out."
8 "You Have Opened The Door To Darkness, Little Man."
Some of the most sinister, and appropriate, dialogue options from the game come from the Dark Brotherhood questline. One can threaten, insult, and be as ominous as one desires. When meeting with the potential client, Amaund Motierre, the player will have a few ways of conversing with the surprised man. Motierre did not think the Black Sacrament would work and says this as the Dragonborn stands before him, to which the player can inform him that dark deeds are on the horizon.
7 "Were They Supposed To Explode? Because They Exploded."
In one of the earliest quests one can do in the College of Winterhold, the player can assist the Khajiit mage J'zargo with experiments pertaining to fire magic and scrolls. Due to the mage's inept abilities, the scrolls that are tested by the player literally blow up in one's face.
After this, if the player survives, they can address this concern to the feline magic-user. Though, it is not the first time this line of dialogue appears in a Bethesda game, as it is uttered during another explosion related quest in Fallout 3.
6 "Uh... The One Where You Saw The Lady In Half?"
Upon discovering the door to the Dark Brotherhood sanctuary near Dawnstar, the player will be prompted by a question before being able to enter: "What is life's greatest illusion?" If the Dragonborn has done the appropriate quests, the true answer, "Innocence, my Brother", will be a potential response. But there are other, more comical ones that make it obvious that the player character does not always take situations seriously.
5 "Politics Be Damned. Alduin Has Returned!"
During the civil war questline, the Dragonborn will be charged with the mission of speaking with General Tullius and Ulfric Stormcloak in order to arrange a meeting for peace in favor of working together against the ancient and powerful dragon. Being in line with the thoughts of most players, this line of dialogue urges Ulfric to see reason over holding onto a human conflict in the face of the literal apocalypse.
4 "Don't Make Me Hurt You. Just Tell Me Where It Is."
During this blood-soaked quest in the far north of the province, the player will meet the unhinged Septimus Signus. This scholar of the arcane tends to speak in riddles and with phrases that don't make the most sense to the Dragonborn.
If one so desires, they could threaten the knowledge-seeker into sharing information about an Elder Scroll in a typical intimidating fashion, though this just leads to Signus brushing the player off as a brute and follows up the statement with another cryptic phrase.
3 "They're Indestructible, So They'd Make Good Armor."
Upon receiving the Elder Scroll in the later part of the Dawnguard questline, the moth priest Dexion Evicus will ask the Dragonborn what they plan to do with the mythical item. If one decides to make the priest worry for the sake of a laugh, the player can reply that they intend to use the unbreakable scrolls as protection, which Evicus will declare as folly and offer the player an alternative.
2 "I Don't Really Care What You Are."
When conversing with the vampire lord Harkon, there are many things one could say and learn from this blood-drinking elder. Most are questions, showing interest in his people, his daughter, and vampire lore in general. There are even options to become a vampire and acquire great powers of blood and darkness. Though, if one wants, they can simply dismiss Harkon and his entire race as trivial.
1 "Hey, Skeever Butt!"
Although not dialogue options per se, the Throw Voice shout allows the Dragonborn to sling silly insults at any and all living creatures. There is much fun the player can have when using this skill. Not only to distract and manipulate enemies from afar, but also for some NPC trolling. Other incredible lines possible with this shout involve calling others "cheese brain", "troll bait", "slug-breath", "melon nose", or the always classic, "ugly".
