The ten year anniversary version of The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is releasing in less than a month. Many longtime fans are looking forward to re-experiencing Skyrim with a fresh coat of paint, along with numerous new features to help set the game apart from previous iterations. Though, one such new feature included in the 10th anniversary edition is unexpectedly humorous.

Since its initial release back in 2011, Skyrim has managed to persist across several console generations, making its way onto a variety of different platforms. This even includes a special edition of Skyrim for Amazon Alexa. Just about every new version of Skyrim has managed to build upon itself in terms of mechanics and in-game content, but the 10th anniversary edition is including something truly distinct in terms of Skyrim.

Over on Twitter, Bethesda announced that as part of the Hearthfire DLC, players will be able to customize their in-game manors with aquariums. In addition to fish tanks, players will also be able to display fish that they have caught by mounting them on the wall. This mechanic appears similar to how players could mount weapons on the walls via weapon plaques.

In a way, it makes a lot of sense for Bethesda to include a new cosmetic feature like this. Given the recent update that allows players to fish in-game, it would make sense for the 10th anniversary edition to include a means to display whatever players catch. The Hearthfire DLC already allowed players to display mounted animal heads and other trophies, so to have the same be applied to fishing will hopefully be equally as engaging.

In any case, it's amazing to see just how long Skyrim has managed to maintain its popularity. In addition to games like Grand Theft Auto 5, Skyrim has found its way onto two subsequent console generations after originally releasing on consoles like the Xbox 360 and PS3. Only a handful of other games have successfully remained relevant in the gaming community for that long a time frame.

It will be interesting to see what the future holds for The Elder Scrolls series going forward. While The Elder Scrolls 6 was confirmed to be in development, there has been little to no additional news regarding the game's ongoing development. With any luck, Bethesda will have substantial content to show fans when the time is right, but that will likely take a lot more time.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim: Anniversary Edition is set to launch on November 11, 2021, on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
