Although the world and lore of the now-decade old The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is large enough already, the fact that fans are dedicated to making mods for it means the game is always being expanded upon in numerous ways. While some Skyrim mods are just plain weird, there are those which go to great lengths to add new assets, fix bugs, or implement whole side quests, becoming large projects in themselves. Then there's Skyblivion, a full conversion mod which, as the name may suggest, rwill recreate Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion in Skyrim's engine. And now it looks as though there are some downloadable assets for those who can't wait for it to be released.

According to a recent tweet from the developer, a standalone mod has been made available for Skyrim which allows players to don the Necromancer Robes. The post says that fans seemed so enamored by the robes, that it's now something that can be downloaded for either the PC or Xbox versions of Elder Scrolls 5, either through Nexus Mods, or Bethesda itself.

According to the mod description, the Necromancer Robes, which have been made especially for Skyblivion, can be found in the basement of Anises Cabin, which is just outside Riverwood. The immense Oblivion fan remake started life in 2012, almost as long as Skyrim itself has been available, though at the moment there is no official release date for it. However, the development page does say that it will be free providing players already have official copies of Skyrim and Oblivion, as well the DLCs.

There have been some major updates to Skyblivion as time has gone on, and it's looking like a mightily impressive project so far. The aim of the mod is to bring the older Elder Scrolls game, which originally came out in 2006, into the current gaming era, so that it can be reintroduced to fans in a more modern way. As of August this year, the development team consists of 50 volunteers, though the studio is still interested in additional help from anyone.

This is also not the first major project that is looking to overhaul a previous Elder Scrolls game using a newer engine. The Skywind project looks at bringing Morrowind into the Skyrim age, rebuilding assets and recreating the game and story from the ground up. Like its sister mod, it too does not yet have an official release date, but both projects are coming along and hopefully there will be word about a possible launch for either, or both, at some point.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim - Anniversary Edition is set to launch on November 11, 2021, on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Skyblivion is still in development.
