After Ubisoft announces the cancelation of three games as well as the sixth total delay for Skull and Bones, the official social media account for the latter issues a statement explaining what will change during this period. Despite no longer having a solid release date, the message does say fans will learn of the new one "very soon." Ubisoft did say, following this delay, that Assassin's Creed Mirage, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Skull and Bones, and an unannounced game are still all set to release this next fiscal year (April 2023 - March 2024).Reportedly, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot issued a statement to staff asking for their "full energy and commitment" to ensure the company gets back on the "path to success." Yves Guillemot explains that 2023 is a critical time for Ubisoft, but also reportedly stated that the coming pipeline of games is the strongest in company history. More will be shared later this year, at events like E3, but a follow-up update specifically for Skull and Bones came through official channels as well.RELATED: Ubisoft Names the Big Games It Has Coming Out Next Fiscal YearAccording to the below image, Skull and Bones' release date was delayed "a little more" so the developer could ensure the best gameplay experience on day one as possible. Specifically, the message cites feedback from player tests in regard to the amount of polish and the current gameplay balance as things it'll be focusing on. However, this delay doesn't mean communication from the dev is ending. No, according to this message, a new episode of The Deck will air on January 13 and feature new gameplay based on Skull and Bones lore.

It also says information regarding the new release date and play test phases will be announced "very soon," with the Skull and Bones staff ending by thanking fans for their continued patience and understanding. It's not immediately clear what "very soon" means here, but considering the fiscal year pipeline, this does mean Skull and Bones should launch sometime before March 2024. Of course, less is currently known about Assassin's Creed Mirage and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, but fans do know they're on the way.

The other big question left following these announcements is which three Ubisoft games were canceled. They were reportedly unannounced, meaning something like Massive Entertainment's Star Wars game should be safe, but there were reportedly some VR, Prince of Persia, and other games in the works that hadn't been properly announced. It's uncertain what's on the chopping block, and it's uncertain when/if fans will ever learn of these games.

Skull & Bones is in development for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
