During Ubisoft’s press conference at E3 2017 today, the gaming giant announced its newest IP: Skull & Bones. The open-world naval title will pit players against fellow pirates as they seek to control and loot the dangerous waters of the Indian Ocean. As part of the announcement, Ubisoft shared a compelling trailer for Skull & Bones that shows how cut-throat the life of a pirate can be.

While presenting the title, a Ubisoft representative described how the team at Ubisoft has been planning Skull & Bones since the success of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag’s naval combat. In fact, since that game released, many gamers have been hoping Ubisoft would release just such a title.

During the brief reveal, Ubisoft announced that gamers can enjoy Skull & Bones solo or with friends. The title will come with plenty of game modes for gamers to enjoy, and will challenge gamers with creating and outfitting ships that fit their play styles.

Additionally, Ubisoft is planning to incorporate seasons into Skull & Bones. While few details were revealed about these seasons, it sounds like the seasons in Skull & Bones will follow the format that will be used in an upcoming addition to The Division, where gamers will get a chance to compete for a chance to climb the leaderboards.

No release date was revealed for Skull & Bones, but hopefully gamers won’t have to wait too long for the game to release. Those who are interested in the game can sign up now for beta access on Ubisoft’s site.

Skull & Bones is expected to release on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
