After the action-platformer Skul: The Hero Slayer saw huge success on Steam, the Nintendo Indie World showcase earlier today announced its arrival to Switch later this year.

Skul: The Hero Slayer has been sitting in Steam's New and Trending indie games since its release in January, seeing highly positive reviews from players. Though this roguelite comes in a crowded genre with many other competitors like HadesSkul is noted for having challenging mechanics and addicting gameplay, perfect for fans of roguelites and roguelikes.

From developer SouthPAW and publisher NEOWIZ, players assume the role of Skul as he takes on the imperial army singlehandedly in a quest to rescue his king. But the highlight mechanic of Skul is the ability to swap out different skulls, which changes combat and playstyle, not unlike a darker version of Kirby. This pixel game is perfect for the Switch, and the action will come to Nintendo's console this summer.

Each head in Skul comes with its own unique attacks and abilities, but players can quickly swap between the skulls in the midst of combat, which is one of the driving mechanics of the game, sort of like switching between characters of different types in Genshin Impact.

Players highly recommend giving Skul a try for those who are fans of platformers like Hollow Knight. While it might take inspiration from other platformers and roguelites before it, it's far from a copycat, say fans of the game. It introduces new ideas, much like the skull mechanic, resulting in fun and addicting grinds.

Skul: The Hero Slayer is out now for PC and is coming to Switch Summer 2021.
