Unlike several other games made in 2011, The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim has managed to maintain its longevity for close to ten years. In that time, the community of Skyrim fans has kept the game relevant via appreciation posts, fan-art, weapon replicas, and cosplay, just to name a few examples. Although, this latest piece of cosplay highlights one of the most memorable factions in the entire game.

One of the most notable aspects of Skyrim is the various organizations the Dragonborn can associate with. From the Thieves Guild, to the Companions Guild, there are plenty of factions for players to join and interact with. However, one of the more sinister factions features a distinctive armor set that one Skyrim fan used for a recent Halloween costume.

A Reddit user named jules-gold made a cosplay based on the Dark Brotherhood armor set. The armor itself, along with the the facial covering, bears an almost uncanny resemblance to the Dark Brotherhood's leader Astrid. That said, according to the user, one person at their work party mistook the costume as the character Deadpool, instead of it being a Skyrim character.

Members of the Dark Brotherhood typically don't wear masks unless it's a part of an important questline. The very first Dark Brotherhood quest, Friends Like These, is one of the only times the player actually sees Astrid wearing a red mask over her face. Thus, it's possible for some people to be mistaken. Either that or a number of people just haven't played Skyrim and therefore, would not understand the context.

In any case, it's amazing to see just how relevant Skyrim remains within the gaming community. Very few other games have managed to maintain their popularity for as long as Skyrim has, to the point where Bethesda will be releasing the Skyrim: Anniversary Edition as a way to celebrate the game's tenth anniversary. However, it begs to question where The Elder Scrolls series will go from here.

The Elder Scrolls 6 was unveiled over three years ago and yet since that time, there hasn't been anything by way of official news regarding the game's development. It's possible that Bethesda just has a lot of irons in the fire. In addition to Skyrim: Anniversary Edition, the studio is also set to publish Starfield, a new title that is set to release late next year. With any luck, more details regarding the development of The Elder Scrolls 6 will release in due time.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is available for PC, PS3, PS4, Switch, Xbox 360, and Xbox One with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions coming on November 11, 2021.
