In August, indie skateboarding sim Session made headlines. The in-development game garnered a huge amount of interest from fans of EA's Skate series in particular as although EA seems reluctant to make a new Skate game, maybe Session could fill in the skate sim gap.

Independent developer creā-ture studios may not have the same resources as EA's series, but it hopes to raise funds with a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter. The developer has confirmed that its Kickstarter for the game will go live on November 14, and has released a new gameplay teaser trailer for the game and its upcoming crowdfunding campaign to get people excited. Though, creā-ture studios warns excited fans not to watch the video too much, joking that there are still glitches and bugs that it is ironing out.

What's positive is that the Kickstarter will come with a playable demo of Session, presumably allowing players to try the game before they pledge. The physics in the teaser trailer do look a little wonky and the game is very much a work in progress, but at least fans will be able to test the game for themselves, seeing whether Session's in-development issues are a dealbreaker for them. It also allows fans to assess whether it really can scratch that Skate-sized itch or whether creā-ture studios needs to take its game back to the board shop from some additional fine-tuning.

Many fans will be hoping that Kickstarter success will allow creā-ture studios to build Session above and beyond its vision for the game. EA has stated that it isn't currently working on Skate 4, but perhaps if fans pour enough money and support into Session, the indie developed title can be just as good.

For example, fans on Reddit have already bemoaned a lack of multiple control schemes, which is something that the Skate and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series boasted. But creā-ture studios says that it's just not possible for Session as it is "too complex" and would have a "huge impact at the core of the code and design of the game." That said, perhaps it would be possible to make that happen as a Kickstarter stretch goal.

Some fans may even be hoping that Kickstarter success puts pressure on EA to change its mind. Between Session's crowdfunding success and that recent viral Skate 4 tweet from Tyler, the Creator, EA may find itself forced to bow to Skate fans' demands.
