EA Play Live 2021, Electronic Arts' mid-year digital games showcase, is coming next week. It airs on July 22 and is set to features some of EA's biggest upcoming games. Unfortunately, however, it seems that one of EA's most exciting recent announcements won't have anything new to share at this year's show. The Skate development team at Full Circle confirmed Sunday that Skate 4 would not be a part of EA Play Live 2021. To help make up for it, the team plans to share something July 19, instead.

The Full Circle Skate team updated fans on what's going on via a statement posted to the game series' official Twitter account. It starts with a joke, asking how it's already been a year since the new Skate game was announced during EA Play 2020. It then goes into a short explanation as to what Full Circle has been doing since the studio officially formed this past January. Namely, it has been bringing in a lot of talented developers to help make the next Skate a reality.

With that in mind, Full Circle explains that, while it knows fans were hoping for more information about the in-development Skate project, the team is not ready to provide that just yet. As such, Skate will not be shown as part of EA Play Live 2021 when it airs on Thursday. Full Circle says that it's "still early," referring to the development of the new game, and that it's going to "take some time" before the new Skate game is ready to be shown.

While Full Circle won't be showcasing Skate 4 at EA Play Live 2021, it still wants to do something special for Skate's fans. As such, Full Circle says that it plans to share "a little something" on Monday, July 19. It could be as small as a screenshot or it may be more of a deeper look into what Full Circle is up to. It almost certainly won't be a big trailer or reveal like fans may have wanted from it at EA Play Live, though.

To be fair to the devs at Full Circle, it was made explicitly clear during the reveal at EA Play 2020 that the game's development had only just begun. After all, the announcement didn't even include a glimpse of what the new Skate game would be, as the devs were just excited to share something. Unfortunately, everyone will have to continue to stay patient until more information is revealed.

EA Play 2021 will still have plenty of other games, even if Skate and BioWare are missing out on the event. Games that have been teased so far include Apex Legends and Battlefield 2042, as well as some of EA's indie originals. Madden 22, FIFA 22, and EA's sports plans will also be showcased. For the most part, though, it seems like Skate fans will have to look toward 2022.

Skate 4 is currently in development.
