One of the most requested video game sequels of the past decade is a follow-up to EA Black Box's classic extreme sports video game Skate 3. While the extreme sports genre has fallen out of popularity since Skate 3's release, many fans are still holding out hope that EA will announce a Skate 4, causing them to take to social media on multiple occasions to request a sequel. Today, following the announcement of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 from Activision, Skate fans have once again taken to Twitter to let EA know that they want their beloved skateboarding franchise to return too.

Announced by Geoff Keighley as part of Summer Game Fest, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 is a remake of the first two entries in the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater franchise for the PS1 that will release on the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 4th. The title was teased last week by professional skateboarder Jason Dill on The Nines Podcast, alongside a mobile port of Skate 3.

Speaking on the podcast, Dill claimed that he had been contacted by EA in 2019 to appear in the port, yet when Dill asked if the publisher would like him to appear in any other titles (namely a possible Skate 4), the company declined. Dill stated, "Look, no big deal. No one wants your stupid mobile version of Skate 3. Make Skate ****ing 4 already!" EA has not yet confirmed any sort of Skate 3 mobile port.

While many Skate fans are surely excited for titles such as Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 and even upcoming indie titles such as Skate XL and Session, Skate 3's 10 year anniversary yesterday has many fans wishing for the franchise's return now more so than ever, especially with EA's upcoming EA Play event slated for June 11th, where the company plans to reveal upcoming titles for both current and next generation consoles, along with remasters such as the much rumored Mass Effect trilogy remaster.

Should Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 succeed, many are hoping that EA will notice Activision's renewed interest in the extreme sports genre and finally start development on a new entry in the Skate series. Despite closing the series' developers EA Black Box (formerly Black Box Games) in 2013 and shutting Skate 3's online servers down in 2016, many quickly noticed that the publisher had re-activated the game's servers following its EA Play event in 2018, which sparked much of the current conversation regarding the future of the skateboarding series. As of right now EA has not commented on the future of the Skate franchise in any capacity.

Skate 4 has not been announced.
