Several months ago, an online retail listing of Skate 4 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One caused fans of the popular skateboarding simulation series to get their hopes up that Electronic Arts is going to eventually announce the game at some point in the near future. Now, even more speculation about the extreme sports brand is cropping up, as a potential promo image for the fourth entry in the franchise may have leaked online.

As seen in the rather blurry image below uploaded by the Redditor known as "dan_mss", it appears as if Electronic Arts might have a fresh marketing campaign in the works for Skate 4, as the picture in question asks fans to "ride on" next to the skateboarding series' emblem, with the EA, PS4, and Xbox One logos shown along the bottom. Should the photo be legitimate, then this could indicate that the publisher is primed to announce the fourth installment at E3 2018.

While there's no doubt that fans of the franchise will be hoping that the above image is proof of Skate 4 being in development, it's important to note how easy one could use photo editing software to make a mock up picture of practically anything. After all, many highly anticipated sequels to some of the most beloved series have seen fans create elaborate and convincing fakes of what where originally claimed to be evidence of an unannounced game's existence.

Taking all of this into consideration, it's important to remain skeptical of the validity of the aforementioned Skate 4 image, especially since Electronic Arts has not even mentioned the title ever since fans caused an uproar about its absence at E3 2017. That said, though, with this year's Electronics Entertainment Expo right around the corner, it's prime time for authentic leaks to hit the Web in a major way, and it's safe to say that EA would likely please the existing fan base and newcomers alike with a resurgence of the Skate series.

Skate 4 has not been officially announced.
