The video game community at large has spent a lot of energy demanding sequels for some abandoned franchises. From shooters to platformers, people want to be able to return to their favorite series in a whole new way. Skate 4 has been one of the most-requested sequels for fans of the skateboard genre, and after years of waiting it is finally coming. Fans were lucky enough to get a teaser before EA Play Live 2021, and now it's just a matter of waiting on development.

With all of the anticipation behind Skate 4, many fans are already looking forward to what features the game might include. The first three Skate games were built on an impressive combination of arcade and simulation mechanics, and it's likely that Skate 4 will follow a similar formula. There is still a lot of room for expansion, and after so many years spent dormant, Skate 4 will hopefully give longtime fans some new features to mix things up. There's a lot of different things developer Full Circle could add, so it's worth taking a look at some of the best things that could bring Skate 4 to the next level.

A Bigger Open World

One of the best features of the Skate franchise is the ability to freeskate. Getting a chance to explore a map and string together tricks in an open area is some of the most fun that comes from skateboarding games, and Skate 4 has the perfect opportunity to expand on that. Skate 3's open worlds were serviceable at the time, but the emerging power of next-gen consoles opens up so many more possibilities. If Skate 4 were to expand its freeskate areas even farther, it could help give one of the franchise's best modes a greater sense of longevity.

Enhanced Community Features

Skateboarding is built on a great sense community among skaters, and the Skate franchise has done what it can to convey that in the past. Now that gaming is more connected than ever, Skate 4 would be in a prime position to bring players together like never before. Whether it's freeskating with friends or sharing created skate parks, there are many different things that Full Circle could add to Skate 4 to make it a community-driven experience. Not only would this help gamers play with friends how they want, but it could help show EA that there is a dedicated group of players willing to support the game.

A True Sense Of Progression

Sports games historically haven't been known for giving players the greatest sense of progression. Most give players all of the skills they need up front, but there have been some titles in recent years that let players feel like they're really improving as they play. Skate 4 could follow this trend by adding some RPG elements into the game, giving players a chance to build up their characters how they like. Going from simple Ollies to difficult Hardflips is a challenge for any skater in real life, so conveying that in Skate 4 could be a great way to make players feel like they're getting better the farther they go.

Skate 4 has been highly anticipated, so there's sure to be a lot of expectations behind it the longer development goes on. The fact that the game will also be able to take advantage of next-gen hardware is an exciting prospect, so fans can only hope that Full Circle will add a handful of new features. It will probably be quite some time until Skate 4 is ready for release, so fans just have to stay patient for a little bit longer.

Skate 4 is currently in development.
