Players who want to take a break from life can live another life in any of The Sims games. And for those with a penchant for the macabre, The Sims has an equal amount of ways to get into the afterlife. In turn, a lot of fans tend to get surprised with just how many ways their Sims could face certain death.

Ways of dying in The Sims include mundane things such as hunger or thirst to drowning. However, some ways to "die" outright involve supernatural phenomena! In fact, some of them are just outright hilarious to check out.

10 When Spacetime Resorts To Killing

Death by Time Paradox - Sims 4 Funny Deaths

Sci-fi lovers will adore "Into the Future" in The Sims 3, especially since this finally lets Sims travel into the future. Thanks to the Wellsian Time Portal, Sims can travel as much as they like in the future. And players who abuse this feature might cause their Sims to contract Time Paradox Sickness, which really needs hospital admission.

Players who don't admit their time-sick patient will cause that Sim to get the "Blinking In And Out Of Existence" moodlet. In a day, they'll get "Do I Even Exist?" as their next moodlet with the Sim hilariously disappearing and appearing out of existence. As with an unfortunate Doctor Who episode, the untreated time-sick Sim will die with a partially-faded gravestone.

9 When The Skydiving Simulator Goes Final Destination

Death by Skydiving Sim - Sims 4 Funny Deaths

A Skydiving Simulator in real life is a great way to simulate the feeling of freefall without the "falling to death" experience. And the Simulator in "Superstar" of The Sims functions in the same way. Thing is, if players are fond of removing ladders from pools to kill Sims, they can also kill via the Skydiving Simulator if they block the exit.

Hilariously enough and much to the horror of the Sim, a Skydiving Simulator that runs for too long will just eject the Sim into the sky. This instantly kills the Sim, and doesn't even give the Grim Reaper a chance to meet them. Talk about pulling off a Final Destination!

8 When The Murphy Bed Falls Apart

Death by Murphy Bed - Sims 4 Funny Deaths

Thanks to "Apartment Life" of The Sims 2, players finally get a taste of more minimalist and space-saving options for their houses. Like in the real world, a Murphy Bed is a "hideaway" bed that can fold onto the wall to create more moving space — perfect for apartments. Thing is, a Murphy Bed can become a "hideaway" for a Sim's dead body under the right circumstances.

Just like in cartoons, an unfortunate Sim with low-enough Body Skill or in a foul mood can become the receiving end of a crashing Murphy Bed. Of course, unlike in cartoons, a Sim under the business end of a Murphy Bed won't get to wake up any time soon.

7 When The Mummy's Curse Is Real

Death by Mummy Curse - Sims 4 Funny Deaths

While "Makin' Magic" of The Sims first introduced the Mummy as an NPC, it's "World Adventures" of The Sims 3 that transformed the Mummy into a life state. A Sim can become a Mummy if they sleep in the Cursed Sarcophagus of Kings, or even use the Bottled Mummy's Curse. Hilariously enough, hostile Mummies can also fight Sims and inflict a Curse on them.

Panicking players can still reverse the Curse, and there are a ton of methods to return to normal just like in many adventure films. Much to the amusement of horror fans, the Cursed Sim will die if they didn't lift the Curse within two weeks. As with scary films, a mummy face appears on the screen before the said Sim dies.

6 When The Vending Machine Strikes Back

Death by Vending Machine - Sims 4 Funny Deaths

It's unavoidable for some items to get stuck inside a vending machine - and it's a reasonable solution to shake the machine, slam it, or even stick a hand inside, right? However, in The Sims 4, Vending Machines can become death machines if handled incorrectly.

Death by Vending Machine happens if a Sim attempts to get a stuck item by slamming or shaking the machine. There's a possibility of the Vending Machine counter-attacking by crushing the Sim and prompt the "Battered & Bruised" moodlet. If Sims do this again, they'll likely get crushed to death!

5 When Elders Do The WooHoo

Death by WooHoo - Sims 4 Funny Deaths

The WooHoo interaction finally makes its way in The Sims 2 as a special event and serves as a euphemism for the "dance without pants." Additionally, new interactions include creating a special memory, doing good or bad WooHoos, or doing the deed publicly. However, as in real life, WooHooing isn't necessarily for the young and active.

Elder Sims can actually do WooHoos, alluding to lasting relationships in real life. Interestingly, humorous situations associated with older people doing the deed also happen in WooHoos. More tragically (and sometimes equally hilarious) is that elders who do badly in the WooHoo can get the "Dangerously Tired" moodlet. And if they do it again while "Dangerously Tired," the overexertion from the WooHoo will kill them.

4 When A Literal Satellite Falls

Satellites out there in space can get decommissioned and either float in space as space junk or fall on a generally empty part of Earth as debris. In The Sims 2, Satellites also crash much in the same way. Thing is, the game has a 1-percent chance of falling onto any stargazing Sim.

If the check is triggered, the Satellite falls within five to 24 animation cycles, where a thought bubble pops on the Sim every three cycles. Thankfully, players can save their Sim from becoming goop if they quit stargazing by then. Then again, that 1-percent chance of becoming Satellite goop is pretty rare. Plus, that Satellite debris can sell for 1,999 Simoleons!

3 When A Wish Turns Sideways

Death by Wishing Well - Sims 4 Funny Deaths

Sims who use the Wishing Well in The Sims 4 can wish up to nine things — from Romance to Skill to Happiness — which then can result in an overwhelmingly positive response, an overwhelmingly negative response, or literal death.

Chances for Sims to die while wishing radically increase the more they use the Wishing Well, as its mood turns afoul the more they use it. Moreover, each wish type has a different death! For instance, wishing for Simoleons can instead empty the Wishing Sim's funds and set them on fire. Moreover, wishing for Youthful Vigor can indeed turn a Wishing Sim young but ironically insta-kill it after, transforming it into a playable Ghost.

2 When The Satellite Upgrades Into A Meteor

Death by Meteor - Sims 4 Funny Deaths

Adorably the successor to death by Satellite, The Sims 3 introduces an actual Meteor as another death type in the game. The game makes this death check whenever a Sim is standing in a vastly open area and players will know the Meteor is on its way when ominous music starts to play and a large shadow appears. Players know the jig is up when their Sim wonders why it suddenly got dark.

Thankfully, players have more than enough time to move their Sim away from danger. But why would they do that? Before a Meteor finally crashes, Sims in the vicinity will run outside to look at the sky as well. Meteors can cause fires and burn Sims, hit buildings and kill Sims inside, or even get summoned by Aliens. Oh, and using a telescope in an open area will increase the chances of spawning a Meteor, too!

1 When They Lose The Guitar Duel With Death

Losing the Guitar Battle with Death - Sims 4 Funny Deaths

Players of The Sims 3 can get an aesthetic door called the Door of Life And Death for their home or any other building. Thing is, the Door is called as such because of its ability to summon the Grim Reaper. Most of the time, the Grim Reaper can "create" a baby via Genetic Merger or even Reincarnate Sims. However, players who feel brave can have their Sims challenge the Grim Reaper to a Guitar Duel.

They can only do this if the Sim in question has Level 4 in that associated skill. This prompts the Grim Reaper to duke it out with his skeletal guitar. Winning gives the Sim a death flower and the "Don't Fear the Grim Reaper" moodlet. Losing, however, will hilariously summon the Pit Monster under the doormat to attack and even kill the Sim. Clearly, that Sim isn't cool enough to duel the Grim Reaper.
