One fan of EA and Maxis’ The Sims 4 learned a painful lesson about furniture safety after watching their sim get pummeled to death by a folding bed, sharing a clip of the hilarious incident online. Even as anticipation builds for the reportedly Unreal Engine-powered The Sims 5, players of The Sims 4 continue showcasing all manner of bizarre and comedic incidents and creations from the popular game.

Originally released for PC in 2014, with console versions following three years later, The Sims 4 is the latest entry in EA and developer Maxis’ long-running social simulation series. As fans have come to expect from previous entries, the game allows players to customize their sims, their housing, and even entire neighborhoods using the countless cosmetic items available in the base game and the numerous The Sims 4 expansions. In a franchise first, The Sims 4 introduced a quick and convenient way for players to share their creations using The Gallery, paving the way for a flood of impressive user-generated content that has kept the game fresh even several years on from its initial release.

In a hilarious new video posted to TikTok, user simsthings4you shares footage of their sim meeting with an unfortunate end as they attempted to put the finishing touches on their house in The Sims 4. Opening the video with captions stating that they had just spent two hours building a “cute tiny house” and wanted to record their sim pulling down its new folding bed, the clip shows the unfortunate sim struggling to open the bed before it suddenly springs loose and bashes them repeatedly into the floor. Thoroughly demolished after the brutal bed beatdown, the clip ends with the Grim Reaper making its way up the steps to the house to claim its latest victim.

While death in The Sims 4 is far from an uncommon occurrence, with some players even delighting in devising devious ends for their unsuspecting sims, the hilarious manner in which this sim was dispatched made the clip an instant hit with franchise fans. Several users responding to the clip shared stories of their sims meeting similarly tragic fates, like the player whose sim was struck by lightning just minutes after graduating from Sim University. In a story that might feel relatable to anyone who had an awkward adolescence, another comment recounted how their unfortunate teenage sim died of embarrassment.

This hilarious TikTok is a great example of the random, hilarious, and downright bizarre emergent gameplay that has made The Sims franchise a hit for decades. And while being crushed to death by a belligerent bed may make for an embarrassing end, at least their sim wasn’t wearing the skimpy new The Sims 4 lingerie when it happened.

The Sims 4 is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
