Capping off Saturday's EA Play, Electronic Arts revealed exciting new content headed to The Sims 4 soon. Players who were able to snag a free copy of the game last month would be happy to know that The Sims 4 is getting a new expansion this month, and another game pack later this fall that will introduce a feature that simmers have been asking for years now.
The upcoming expansion pack is called The Sims 4: Island Living and it will release on June 21 for PC and Mac, and July 16 for consoles. Island Living will add tons of new content including a new location called the Island of Sulani. The new sunny neighborhood will allow Sims to get some much needed time for rest and relaxation, giving them new activities to enjoy such as sun tanning, finding rare seashells, building sand castles, attending local festivals, and interacting with elementals, who are spirits that were once residents of Sulani.
Water activities such as boating, snorkeling, swimming, and many others will be introduced in the new expansion pack and players will also be able to interact with marine life such as tropical fish and dolphins. The expansion pack will also see the return of mermaids to the game, which have been absent in The Sims 4 until now. Players will be able to create fully featured mermaids in the Create-A-Sim menu, which will include a plethora of tails, colors, hairstyles, and accessories.
The Sims 4 Executive Producer Lyndsay Pearson revealed that Sulani is not just a place to vacation, but Sims can also live on the island permanently. Several new items such as furniture, clutter, and clothing that are designed to complement the island life will be introduced in the game as well. The producers of The Sims 4 also talked about how environmental issues will play a vital role in Island Life. Every action in the game will have an impact on the overall health of the island, and the latest expansion will also include a new career called the Conversationist, who will be tasked to keep the island's ecosystem remain healthy and beautiful.
Aside from the upcoming expansion pack, EA also revealed that a new game pack featuring magical elements is coming to the game in the fall. The producers were reluctant to share any more information on how extensive magic will play in the upcoming pack but given that it is not a full-fledged expansion, it might be just limited to a few features.
The Sims 4 is available now on consoles, Mac, and PC.
